Screenshots of the GL sneak peek

Gregory Noveck (DC Comics' Senior VP of Creative Affairs):
- The biggest challenge is to not repeat anything we have done before
- This Green Lantern movie is not based on any specific source material
- Sinestro is the first among equals...he is the greatest of the Green Lantern's who decides to take Hal (the rookie) under his wing
- It's a cop-thriller set in outer space
- The good news about this GL movie is that Hal is going to interact with a whole host of people...villains and good guys

Lauren Montgomery (Director):
- It's a training day sort of story where the veteran (Sinestro) space cop meets the rookie (Hal) space cop, but because the veteran has been 'around the block' it may have skewed his perspective a bit

Bruce Timm (Producer):
- Sinestro is Hal's Darth Vadar...his Dr. Doom
- Almost the entire length of the movie takes place in outer space
- It's a big galactic adventure

Andrea Romano (Casting Director):
- Christopher Meloni and Victor Garber were able to work together in the same studio when filming so they can act off each other's performances (which is rare - according to Garber - in voice acting)

Meloni (on his performance)
- When delivering his lines, he felt he had a tendency (chuckling) to stand with his chest out and to the side

Garber (on Meloni's performance)
- He does exude the heroic quality that the Green Lantern would embody

Madsen (as Kilowog)
- He feels he is the Trainer for the Corps

Helfer (as Boodikka)
- She is very passionate, very strong and has a little bit of a fun side

I really want to be psyched for this, as I love GL.. but that outfit is hideous.

Quotebut that outfit is hideous

That's a fact!

Do the people that design these costumes not know how the power ring works? Green Lanterns do not need body armour. Also...a Green lantern outfit without white gloves is just plain wrong.

Still looking forward to seeing it tho... :P
Clothes make the man and colourful tights make the Super-Hero.

Court: LOVE the avatar  :D

Count me among those who dislike the outfit.  I can deal with the lack of white gloves ;) but honestly, the cut is terrible, it makes his shape look all wrong, almost like he has no hip or groin.  The fact that the green area is plates doesn't help a bit.

Still, they've got a good creative team on it for the most part so maybe the costume will be the only thing that sucks.

The Hitman

I dunno... I kinda like the costume...

ACK! Please stop throwing chef salads at me!

His outfit has changed a little.  His collar area is black now which make it look a little better.

Trailer

Steel folding chair for the win!
I'll second that emotion. When it showed that yellow lantern guy (Sinestro?) shoot his lazor at him and then he shot a lazor at him I was afraid it would show them colliding in the middle in the two-lazor-battling way which would have been ridiculous.

I don't know if I can sit through yet another telling of the Hal Jordan Green Lantern origin story.  I hope it's not retold again in this movie and that the trailer was just parts of the opening credits.

Eh, this movie IS a Green Lantern origin story.  That was always the intention.  It's more of a space-based story, though.
I am the cat that walks by himself, all ways are alike to me.

Yeah, I've got no problem with seeing Hal's origin story.  He's got a great origin, presuming they do it right.  This looks pretty good, although I have to say I don't care for the weirdo look of Abin Sur.  Still, that's a pretty minor thing.

watched the movie yesterday I really enjoyed it, I never read any of GL comics and they do Hal's origin in the first few mins of the film, before the opening credits. Its more Hal's first task as a green lantern. I won't say who the villian is I am sure youll guess it shortly after the opening credits.  I dont want to break any forums rules, send me a pm ill hit you with a link to watch it streaming.

Tomato

They told it in about two minutes before opening credits. Then on to the actual story, which is a nice blend of old school and new school... enough of the recent Lantern Corp stuff to be a cool addition (and to remove the horrible Blue Jester suit from Sinestro's legacy) without intruding too much into the story.

AfghanAnt

How are people seeing this movie already? The website says it goes on sale on the 28 of July. Was it released early for Comic-Con?

Renegade

Probably best not to ask. Even better not to answer. ;)
Hey Kids, COMICS!

BWPS

They downloaded it illegally, likely from torrents or Limewire or something.

It hasn't even been released yet though. Regardless none of that piracy talk! I honestly thought they move the sale date up a week for Comic-Con because you know that is a good way to make money...

Cyber Burn

So, I picked this up on Tuesday. And I gotta say I really enjoyed. Good story, good art, good voice acting, overall, for me it was more than worth it.

I generally liked it -- the cops in space tone was handled really well. But the "origin" stuff (for someone like me who isn't the most green lantern saavy guy) seemed like there were chunks of exposition that were cut. Specifically things like He gets the ring, and 30 seconds later, hes using it like hes been doing it for years. Its like the movie glossed over even a mention of training or exposition of how the ring worked and how Hal could use it so easily and expertly. It just kind of assumed everyone knew and ran with it. That really seemed jarring in terms of story and pacing to me. But other than that I liked it.

Yeah, kinda like "You have the ability to overcome plot holes. Welcome to the Green Lantern Movie"
It's really enjoyable anyway, i was just hoping for a single anime to show my girlfriend to explain her who this guy was...New Frontier was too "confusing" too show to someone who doesn't know a thing about the DCU so i still think GL misses a great opportunity to have an actual origin story
But to be fair, we all know that movie was targeted at fans first and newcomers second, and any extra time on an origin story we all know would have slowed down the plot
so i recommend watching this, it allows us to be patient for Public Ennemies  :)

Actually... it's subtle, but they do sort of address his ability. When the other Lanterns fight him, I think Sinestro states something akin to "It seems he's been training"

yep
Spoiler

I wasn't too crazy about the way the Gaurdians were portrayed nor for the omission of individual power batteries.

JeyNyce

It was good, better than WW and Supes/ doomsday.  It did leaves some pot holes, but if you take it for what it is, good show.

marhawkman

Yeah, they completely left out those. Kinda annoying.

I thought they handled his "noobness" quite well. The GLs who find him when he first got the ring were VERY surprised that he had mastered to the level he had. Oh course he'd only figured out the more basic stuff, but enough to be able to use it.

MJB

I do not consider myself an expert on GL lore. I am a novice at best. In my completely un-expert opinion I say that this flick is awesome!

Ya, awesome.
