I loved this film. :D It so far is the best of their direct to DVD animated features even with the stuff they left out. ;) The story was good, the pacing was good and the animation was fantastic. My hope actually is that they eventually do Superman and Batman in this style of feature.
I can't help it that I look so good baby! I'm just a love machine!

the best, really? that movie had flaw...like, not even once mentioning the word WILL. for a green lantern movie that's kinda hard. or the fact that qward is not in the anti-matter universe. the fact that sinestro is conciously becoming evil: in the book he really feels betrayed when hal tell on him. his hard method are the good way for controling his sector, in his opinion; in that movie he conspire with the "ennemi" since the begining. and no classic outfit for sinestro...i know sinestro corp war was highly popular, but his first yellow ring is suppose to only recharge by battling green lanterns...
meh, i'm probably nitpicking about "classic" stuff, but i still liked the wonderwoman movie better than this one (apart from the obese hades which is completely unexplainable)

Maybe I should have put a little "IMO" in there but yes "best" is the way I feel about it. It didn't need everything from the comics to get the essence of the story of Hal and Sinestro. And the 'classic' Sinestro oufit "IMO" would have been a little out of place for the design of this film. It's a good interpretation of the comic and I truly don't mind the "missing" things from the "classic" story. And I liked Wonder Woman as well...but I liked this more. ;)

I sincerely hope this is better than Wonder Woman.  IMO WW was pure meh.  It was not a good DC effort.  It would have been a great Marvel direct to DVD effort but far short of what DC has put out in recent years.

EDIT:  I saw the GL movie last night.  It was better than WW, but not by much.  I like to lose myself in a movie and ignore inconsistencies within reason and there are some I just couldn't get over in this movie.
Spoiler
Why does Hal need a mask (only he and the squirrel wear one)?  If the ring works as a translator then why did we hear English and an alien language at the space station thingy?
I'm glad the origin story was kept short.  It was done much better in the Justice League animated movie anyway.  The overall story was good and I recommend the movie for GL fans.  I don't think it would recruit fans among non-GL fans in my age range.

Had my friends over for BBQ night and to watch Green Lanter.  My girlfriend worked up an excellent batch of sweet potatoes, pulled pork, baby back ribs, beans, and cornbread.  She also just bought a 50" hi-def 1080p plasma TV and I grabbed a 1080p Blu-Ray player and the Green Lantern DVD.  Needless to say I was stoked.

Well, about 5 PM, an hour before the guests arrive, the igniter in my gas stove goes out so the food can't be finished.  I run to the local non-chain pizza shop and grab a giant supreme pizza.  So, although we won't be enjoying the lovely BBQ, we still get a decent pizza and a cool movie.

Well, the movie was less that steller.  I think on average we gave it 3 stars out of 5.  I gave it a 2, but I may have been biased by the lack of BBQ that evening.

Well now I don't want to see it if I can't have barbecue, I doubt I'd like it.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

I really liked it but I do have to say, not to include the whole 'will' thing is a big oversight but it still didn't detract really. I loved Sinestro...a good villain makes a film for me, Alan Rickman in Die Hard for instance, and Sinestro is a good villain.

I didn't like the guardians much, I thought they were like bickering old men and a tad annoying.

Overall, I enjoyed it and that's what matters I guess.

that was actually a pretty accurate portrayal of the Guardians.   either they've already argued it to death off panel or they argue about it on panel.
