Hey 'Mato, that seems like a fairly legitimate question; no need to get so defensive, my friend.  I had similar trepidations about Cage when I started the show, though I eventually came to love it.

Wow, clearly I need to watch Kubo!  I thought it looked really neat, but it's interesting to see so much love for it.

There have been some truly great movies and shows released this past year.  There's been some terrible disappointments too, but it's still pretty amazing that we got films the likes Civil War and, despite its flaws, Rogue One., given the profitability of lesser movies.

Mostly because the post is not a question about Luke Cage. "Did it actually get better after episode 1?" would have been a question about Luke Cage, but the way it was worded felt like it was asking about kkhohoho's character rather than about the show.

But ANYWAY, back to the topic. Here are my picks (I'm sticking purely to stuff that came out/premiered in 2016)

-Luke Cage (this one was close, but DD season 2 had too many flaws, and the CW shows aren't quite on the same level this year)

-Ben Affleck (Movie was garbage, but Affleck's performance was one of the best aspects of it)

-Scarlett Johansson (CA3:CW. Gal Gadot is a close second, but she just didn't get the screen time or show off the range to edge out Scarlett)

-Luke Cage (TBF, I have not yet had time to hop on the Stranger Things bandwagon.)

-Superman in Supergirl (Don't get me wrong, Spider-man is a VERY close second, but I'm just so happy to have a decent Superman in SOMETHING.)

I didn't critisize anything about the show, I'm just interested in hearing someone else's opinion on it.

EDIT: If I had said "does it get better after the first episode" it would be a presumption that others share my opinion of the first episode, which is not something that should be assumed.

So I looked at that topic-- I think my question was misconstrued to be related to the nudity in Luke Cage, which it wasn't. I wasn't specifically referencing any one flaw that I found in the first episode with that question.

I did not misconstrue your question.  You did seem to talk down to hoho about his particular taste, which you obviously did not share.  Whereas if you read the thread, Tomato referenced, Benton did indeed express his displeasure with the same episode you pointed out without any rancor at all.

Fact is, if you didn't like, you didn't like it.  This thread is full of stuff I don't like.  It's full of stuff others don't like too.  But just because I don't watch Supergirl or certain animated features don't mean others don't watch and enjoy them.

It make sense to be critical of a show.  But being critical of someone's opinion is something entirely different.

I apologize, I had no intention of causing any drama. Let me try to clarify myself.

I never made any judgement on hoho's opinion. I did not talk down to him. I only watched the first episode, so my only point of reference for discussion is the first episode. My own judgement of the quality of the first episode is not relevant at all to this discussion. I was asking someone else what drew them to the second episode, instead of stating why I was not drawn to the second episode.

In hindsight, my interest in hoho's thoughts could have been expressed in a clearer way-- but understand that I passed no judgement on anyone.

Fair enough. I think that's a good point to end that on (though I would invite Ouflah to ask any questions he has over in the Luke Cage thread), and move back over to the discussion at hand.

Sadly, I don't really have too much to add to my original post. I agree with GG about animated films being represented, buuuut... I didn't watch either film this year. It's sad, since I have every belief I'd enjoy them both, but to be fair, I also haven't watched Rogue One. As for the hallway scene, I had a feeling you meant the staircase one, but it was also clear most people were referring to 2015's DD Season 1 scene.

And again, folks I just want to clarify like Jey said last year and as GG and hoho did earlier, you are completely not limited to the nominees that I listed.  I was going off memory, what I've seen and just trying to generate ideas of all we've seen this year.  If there is something else a Best Actress or Film or whatever you think stood out, feel free to add as you wish. It's your opinion that I/we want to hear.
