Which Beast Boy design would you have chosen?

A
B
C

We're going to do something a little different this week. I saw an interview Jonboy Meyers, artist of the Teen Titans Rebirth comics. The article included his costume designs for some of the characters, and I thought it might be interesting to see which costume people would have picked for Beast Boy. There's three designs, each distinctly different.

I ultimately went with C, but it's a VERY soft choice, as I don't particularly like any of the designs 100%.

A is the cleanest and simplest, and it was either white/red or black/purple instead of white/black, I'd be fine with it. instead though, it uses white, black, and this mustard yellow color that's just ugly looking.

B speaks to me the most, since my generation is that of the TT cartoon and I like the black/purple more, but it's overly complicated. That's a serious problem of the N52 and of modern books in general... it's ok to add details and flourishes, but the design works best if it has a small number of primary colors, and the design is something that can be recognizable from far away.

C sits somewhere in the middle... it's not as clean as the A design, but it's also not quite as busy as B. There's still elements I'd simplify, but I do like how the red pops against the green and I think the open collar fits the character more.

I don't think anyone designs these things to actually draw in a comic book, panel after panel, page after page, for months on end. They look alright in a picture like this, but these are done as a one-off. Spider-Man's costume is one of these, because no one really thought about the reality of drawing all that webbing (and anyone who as drawn or skinned it knows what I am talking about). So the artist does a cool new design that he will grow to hate in a few months.

I voted for C, for many of the same reasons as Tomato. It would look better if some of the white was eliminated or possibly made into larger blocks. It also echoes his old Doom Patrol uniform.

Didn't really like A because I don't think the beige works well with Garth's greenness.  B is a little better but I'm not a fan of the knee pads, foot sling, and shoulder ribbing.  C works best of the 3 and does harken back to one of his classic looks, plus the red contrasts nicely with his skin/fur.  I'd still like to lose the jagged stripes on the hip and thigh.

Did this edit out of curiosity, since I think we've all expressed that A would be fine if not for the horrendous color scheme. Look how much better it looks with the color scheme from C

I dunno... I wonder what it would look like if you swapped the red for the white, but kept the gloves the way they are...

the recolor looks really good.  Too bad they're probably going with the non-recolored version for the series. (says cynical me)

I picked C, but I really considered B. C I actually find to be a solid costume design. There's a couple changes I'd make but overall I like it. But I've never been huge on the red/white colour scheme for Beast Boy. It's okay, but I prefer purple/black or purple/white.

Which brings me to B. I like the colour scheme and some of the design. It just needs some more revisions, some simplification.

A Has a weird colour scheme. It looks like it's inspired by the Johns era white/purple but Meyers played with the colours too much. The design itself is okay. Honestly A looks like Meyers sketched/coloured something up just to try it, not a legitimate option.
Tomato your version looks much better, but I'd like to see it in purple.

C is the one being used for the series.
