Not that it's entirely unexpected (what with Lego Batman doing very well and Lego having recently secured rights to both DC and Marvel characters) but TT Games has just confirmed a sequel, supposedly featuring not only Batman, but Superman, Green Lantern, and various other DC characters as well. No reports yet on Aquaman (sorry Benton) but otherwise this seems to be the shizznit.

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go annoy prem with my rabid fanboy squealing.

Well since liscensing aquaman costs $3.49 I think he will be in there.    ;)

You know I've always wanted a superhero crossover game... companies license both sets of characters all the time but never mix them... the notable exceptions being hero clix and vs where you could technically use both universes products together. I would love to see that in a game.

Honestly, I don't know what's going on with the Marvel rights ATM. Lego has bought them, but as far as I'm aware Mega Blok still holds the rights for awhile longer... long enough to get one last set of blind bag minifigs out, at any rate. Either way, the stuff they showed off for comic con was VERY early phase and I really hope none of it is finalized. It honestly looked like they'd printed most of the decals on paper and glued them on. As such, it is very unlikely that we'll see both in the same game for awhile yet, and it is entirely possible that Marvel will have its own game when its rights come in (and to be honest, it looks like Lego's prime for another TDK... Avengers doesn't have a game of its own, so Lego Marvel might be the closest thing to come out over the next several month period).

$3.49?  Are you sure?  I thought they were hoping to get that but would take the best offer.

Nyte Dragon

Nah, $3.49 is what Aquaman's going price is on the corner reef.

The rights are much, much cheaper.
We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?

Yeah, I hope Aquaman is in this game.  Given the current push in their comics and the crazy success of the character in Batman: Brave and Bold, DC would be more than a little dim not to include him....but they've proven that they are, in large part, more than just a little dim.  Still, I'm looking forward to this game.  I love the original, and I would love the chance to play another one.  Here's hoping that most of the classic League is in it!  I want my Hawkman and Aquaman, my Red Tornado and my Martian Manhunter!

What a pleasant surprise. I love the Batman Lego game, and it's one of the few that my nephew and I can agree on to play, so having a sequel come out with the JLA is very exciting. I read that the game is being released in the summer of this year, so that's even better news.

Now if only we can get a new X-men Legends game... or a specific Avengers Legends game...

Yeah, Im more interested in a JLA, AVENGERS or especially X-Men.

I love the "rock paper scissors" side of Superheroes and Lego is a great world for that, more about puzzles than face punching.

My favorite example in recent history is The Strangers mod for Freedom Force... each character was very distinctive and gave different problem solving options.

Likewise in a Lego game you could have Iceman unable to enter the fire room, while colossus can survive in there for a short time or Kurt can teleport past and hit the switch to shut it off. You get what I mean.

Superman kind of ruins that mechanic unless you have kriptonite everywhere. "

I'm providing a link instead of an image because there is a curse word in there somewhere...

Haha, well, Superman is going to be a problem in any Lego-type game.

Guys, you're missing part of the point here... this isn't a Lego DCU game, it's Lego Batman. They're including a few guest stars, but the entire point of the game is to sell the toys. And right now, out of 6 "DC Superhero" sets, only ONE is non-Batman. Unless we start seeing some major movements in that direction (and don't get me wrong, I expect most of the league eventually... including GL, we have about 4 of the big 7 already) I doubt we'll see any more then some guest appearances.

JeyNyce

My daughter is a member of the Lego club so she was told about this a few weeks ago.  It's Batman, Robin, Super-man, Wonder woman, & Green Lantern vs Lex, Joker, Ivy, Catwoman, Two-face, and one more villian.  They are suppose to be giving Bats a hard time in Gotham so he calls in for help.  I hope this game will be a success so we can get a Justice League Lego game

Dude... no. It might be predominately Bat-related, but those probably won't be the only heroes, and I VERY much doubt they're the only villains... even Lego Batman 1 had more villains then that. Again, this whole thing is to sell the lego sets... they're going to cram as much as possible into these games. I just expect that, for the most part, the other heroes will only have 1 or two gimmicks (flight, GL constructs, Lassoing, maybe head vision or sommat extra for supes) while Batman/Robin retain most of the puzzle solving stuff. Any other additions, like Aquaman, will be very limited... super strength, etc.

Just to give everyone a running tally, here are the minifigs available so far

Batman
Robin
Superman
Wonder Woman
Green Lantern (well... ok, not quite yet, but they have GL type sets and they released a movie based minifig for comic con... so it's almost a guarantee we'll see a GL set soon)

Joker
Harley
Catwoman
Two Face
Riddler
Bane
Poison Ivy
Lex Luthor

JeyNyce

Bane!  That was the one I forgot.

Tomato, I not saying that's all the heroes/ villains in the game.  That's the only heroes/ Villains that they mention so far.  We all know from playing past Lego games that there will be a huge amount of characters to unlock.  I hope that they will put The Flash in the game

Heh, it helps that I own the minifig... as expensive as the old sets/minifigs have gotten, I'm investing in the new ones. I got the Batcave the other day, it had Bane and a few others. I am kinda disappointed there wasn't an Alfred... I'd have appreciated that one.

(sorry for the misunderstanding btw. I knew I couldn't be reading that right.)

New trailer
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/340149/lego-batman-2-first-screens-trailer/

Of note: Voices. Specifically Clancy Brown and Mark Hamil (or reasonable facsimiles) audio clips.

(NOTE: If you're familiar with the Lego games in general, you'll understand why this is unusual)

They talk?!  That's new.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing.  Supes intro was cool.

My thoughts:

1) That does indeed sound like Clancy Brown but I'm not sure that Joker voice was Mark Hamil. (Didn't Hamil "retire" from voicing the Joker?)
2) The trailer doesn't actually show the figures talking. Could possibly just be added for the trailer?
3) Supermans intro gave me chills. Love that song.
4) Game looks really fun, like most Lego games.

All in all good stuff. :)

Tomato

Hamill's said stuff to that effect ever since Arkhan City came out, but he's also said stuff the other way too, so it's unclear. This doesn't sound like him, and I doubt he'd come out of his "retirement" for a lego game, but with a third Arkham game inevitably on the way they might pay him enough to change his mind. Besides, his major thing was that he didn't think he'd be able to top Arkham City, not because he suddenly hates playing Joker.

That said, that's either Clancy Brown, or a darn near perfect impression. And I doubt they'd add his voice to a trailer for no reason.

It might be just me but the very end, it looks like the Joker is lipsynched with the line, so they might be.

Kinda wish that Wonder Woman was in this trailer, but she has been confirmed in the game, so that's good.

At any rate, this is looking like pre-order for me already.  :)

This is a must buy.  My daughter and I have all the Lego games.  It's great for family game night and it good way to introduced new comers to gaming.

Voice acting Confirmed
QuoteAlong with an orchestrated score obviously inspired by Danny Elfman's original Batman theme, "LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes" will utilize full character voice acting. In the past, LEGO games have typically relied on simple grunts and chuckles to define character. However, for the sequel, Smith explained, Travellers felt that expansion was needed. Unfortunately, he stopped just short of talking about who is involved in the voice cast, but an announcement should be made shortly.

In my Game Informer, it was revealed that Aquaman and Cyborg are definitely in the game.

I love the idea of Zatanna being in this game. I have a feeling that all those pre-order bonuses will be available for download eventually, which suits me fine.

Release date: June 19th.

I already preordered a while back, but I think all I'm getting is the physical Lex Luthor minifig.  With any luck, those character in the packs can be unlocked in-game.

THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

My only concern is Harley.  I wonder who's going to do her voice?
