Here's hoping that there will be a download pack we can get to upgrade to SSF4. I'm so not buying another copy.

Hmm, not really a fan of some of these new characters (T Bird? He was pretty crap), or the way SF IV DLC (paying for extra costumes???) and online modes (no viewing or group battle modes) were run.

I loved the core game, however.

"Capcom has now confirmed that Super Street Fighter IV indeed exists, and will be a standalone title heading out to PS3 and Xbox 360 in Spring next year

For Super Street Fighter IV, Capcom will be adding eight new characters, including tweaks to the original game based on feedback from the community, with the promise of an improved online experience.

Super Street Fighter IV will reportedly not be sold at full price, and those gamers who own both games will be entitled to an unspecified treat."

Sweet ... that addresses a few of my issues!

EDIT: T.Hawk, Juri, and Dee Jay, along with just a bit of everyone from the previous SF4.

I never bought the original, mostly because I just suck at fighting games now and don't have the time to get good at them. However, I used to love SF as a kid and, well, nostalgia is a powerful thing. I want this.

I`m a bit worried because they haven`t announced the pc version yet. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I wish they would have included the capoeira girl from Africa from SF3, I loved her design and fighting style.

Apparently we're going to have to pay a brand new game and not just DLC???

http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/10/16/gamestop-lists-super-street-fighter-4-price-and-ship-date/

From a video interview I saw, which you can see at the link below, there is apparently too much new content for DLC. Besides new 8 or more new characters, there will also be new stages, balance changes, 2 Ultras instead of one for everybody, etc. At least it's 40 bucks instead of 60, which is great news for anyone who never picked up the first one. If you do happen to have the first game though, you'll apparently get some sort of bonus. Nothing big though.

It's still pretty cruel to come out with this game so soon after so many people spent money on the last one.  They should have at least pushed it back a few months.  Give wallets time to recover.

They should of just waited and saved it for the sequel, but this is capcom we're talking about. Might not get SF 5 for another 10 years.

The select screen of SSF4 has been leaked, and thus, the character count has been confirmed also. 10 more from SF4's 25 will ad up to 35, and the final 4 are rumored to be Dudly, Ibuki, and Makato from SF3, along with one entirely new character. Below, you'll see my proof. The first link shows the select screen, while the 2nd link shows a zoomed in select screen with an outline of sorts on it. Oh, and in case this hasn't been covered yet, Cody, Guy, and Adon have been confirmed.

Capcom ... ie the guys who wanted you to pay for extra costumes in Street Fighter IV, deathmatch in Resident Evil 5, etc.

They confirmed a while ago the other new character is Hakan, a Turkish wrestler and Juri, a Korean acrobat.

New trailer, showcasing some of the new costumes and ultras. Apparently, each character will be able to choose from one of 2 Ultras before a match, like the 3 Supers in SF3.

OMG, OMG, OMG that is just sick!!! Zangief`s new ultra is just plain awesome!!!
Looks like Capcom really nailed it.

I'm bumping this since it comes out next week.

Quick question for you guys: is the game worth buying for offline play only?

I used to love SF back in the day, but stopped playing fighting games in general with the PS1 era, with the exception of a few. I have no intention of playing online at all because A) I don't have Gold, and B) I'll get my arse kicked royally by a bunch of preteen trash talkers.

so, is it a good buy for single player against the computer?

electro

If your itching to play a fighter again & don't mind fighting AI - This new version of the game has supposidly good endings for the characters & rival match ups - A huge list of characters & if you havn't played fighters since the PS1 then you might find alot of the new characters pretty interesting - They all have different multiple costumes - The graphics are cartoony & cinematic which is cool - My only problem with the game is no air blocking - Here's 2 videos with all the hyper moves

TheMarvell

I guess I should rephrase that: I haven't really been super excited about a fighting game since the SF2 era. I've played plenty of fighters since then, just not to the point where I played them regularly like I did SF2. I've played Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, etc, but it's strictly casual and I don't really spend that much time with them. I even bought Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on XBLA, and even though I like it, I haven't really played it since it came out simply because I suck at the game and losing gets old pretty fast.

But SF has the nostalgia factor and I've always loved the characters in that series (except for 3, because that was in the PS1 era. I'm just reluctant to pick this up because a lot of people have said the main bulk of the game is online play. I just want to play single player, watch the character endings, etc, but if that's just tacked on as what is meant to be a Live game, ehhhh.

TheMarvell

decided to take the plunge with that $10 Amazon credit offer on this game.

The nostalgia is coming back in a whole new way. Still love the characters and seems like a fun fighter once you get relatively decent at it. But holy crap am I rusty at the game (not that I was ever that good to begin with, lol).

Does anyone have any tips? I'm reading how to pull off some of these Ultras and special moves, and I'm really, really inconsistent with pulling them off. I've been in training mode for a while, tried out Ken, Fei Long, Ibuki, Cody, and Blanka. And a lot of these characters ultras (except maybe Blanka) have the same input (which is basically the regular command of doing a standard hadoken fireball, just twice in a row). But it seems like sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't (and yes, I made the settings have infinite ultra meter full). I'm scratching my head at this. I had the best of luck with Ken's, but there have been times where I did them 3 in a row, and then couldn't pull it off again for another 10 minutes. It's frustrating. What do you think I'm doing wrong?

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you remember to press two punches or kicks instead of just one?

I can pull of SF4 ultras easy on my comp using the standard 8 way pad.
But when I tried it on my friend`s xbox I was horrible, so in my case it was the 360 gamepad that caused trouble.

basically I'm doing the QCF (quarter circle forward) motion twice, and at the end of the second one I'm hitting the left bumper (or trigger for kicks) which, according to the manual, all three types of punches mapped to one button. Do I need to hit this button twice after the second QCF?

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you remember to press two punches or kicks instead of just one?
