Get an Exciting First-Look at the All New Anime Iron Man and Wolverine

At the Marvel Animation Panel on Friday, July 24 at 4:30 PM

Culver City, CA (7/15/09) ? Marvel Entertainment Inc., has partnered with renowned Japanese animation studio Madhouse (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers) to create four all new anime versions of classic Marvel Super Heroes. Get an exciting first glimpse of two of the planned four series at this year?s Comic-Con International, the country?s leading comics and popular arts convention. The Marvel Animation Panel will be held on Friday, July 24, and will include an exclusive first look at official teaser trailers for two of these new series, hosted by writer and multiple-Eagle Award winner Warren Ellis, who will appear to discuss writing the all new adventures of these re-imagined Super Heroes.

These Marvel Anime TV series are being created as a way of merging the beloved Marvel Super Heroes of western culture with the bold animation tradition of Japan. The resulting product will be four visually groundbreaking anime series featuring popular Super Heroes redesigned and repurposed as emerging from the fabric of Japanese culture. The series is expected to begin appearing on the Animax channel in Japan in spring of 2010.

The Marvel Animation Panel with run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the San Diego Convention Center. A one-hour autograph signing with Ellis will follow the panel at Marvel?s Comic-Con booth #2429.

Wow this could be really good.  I really enjoy their work.  The only thing that would make it better for me is if I can watch it in Japanese with subtitles, I just can't watch dubs these days.  Still, this is pretty cool.

I'm really trusting when it comes to madhouse... not only are they very good but they are at least a little bit flexible. This should be interesting at least and potentially good.

not too sure about the wolverine one though...  i was hoping for more of a vibe that i got in the gotham knight sseries, like the killer croc episode.

I think both look interesting, but I can understand why people are concerned (some Youtubers are downright ticked off) when it comes to the Wolverine trailer. No, it's not traditional Wolverine, but I think it would be best to simply accept this as a new take on Wolverine rather then an embarrassment. After all, traditional Wolverine material isn't all that great nowadays anyway.

like everyone else apparently, i think the ironman one might be interesting. the wolverine one on the other hand looks like it's gonna be a generic ninja anime (i'll say bleach for the demon fighting part, but i don't read/watch bleach so i might be wrong). plus wolvie doesn't look like himself. were is the short bulk scruffy brawler we all love?

If the character design for Wolverine was more inline with what he actually looks like, I think people would be less ticked at the series. I mean, it is technically what people were hoping for when they heard the words "wolverine anime". Wolverine in Japan fighting the Hand and actually using his claws as weapons instead of door openers. If we are lucky, the fan reaction will force Mad House to go back and redo the character design (something that is only possible if they hadn't animated a large chunk of the season already).

Iron Man trailer looks incredibly cool. Of course, it mostly serves to showcase action, but hopefully there will be a decent story to go with it. As for Wolverine, I was less interested, but there's still a chance I could enjoy the movie itself.

I hope they don't do that. As far as I'm concerned they should stick to their artistic vision and not try to pander to the base. A lot of the more unpleasable fans will complain no matter what, while there are people out there who will ok with some changes/differences. I for one don't mind if Wolverine looks different. They did say at comiccon that these are made for the Japanese audience more than the American one.

I'd say it's more reminiscent of Afro Samurai, both in terms of animation and tone. It's worth noting it was stated at comiccon, that these are NOT scenes from the actual series, both animation promos. I imagine that means the finished product will either look different and the animation might not be quite as impressive.

Like the Iron Man one.  Then again, it's a property that lends itself well to anime.

Spring Anime Lineup

Looks like Iron Man is going to be airing as part of the Spring Season, and Wolverine is due out this summer.  Probably later for those who don't watch subbed anime.

looks like these Anime adaptations (4 in total) guided by Warren Ellis will come to G4TV in 2011. Each will have 12 episode arcs, so that means we're getting 48 episodes of "pleasure." Marvel is making some big moves in animation this year. Good for them.

Though, I always find myself wondering why Marvel is so quick to split Wolverine from the X-men when they, too, will have an anime adaptation along with Blade and Ironman (as we already knew).

The Iron Man anime was alright, though honestly I still have to get around to finishing it.  Its kind of a low priority to me.  I saw episode 1 of Wolverine last night.  I think I might enjoy it a lot more.  For one, there's actual blood in the show.  And quite a bit of it. Kind of a nice change from the PG rated version in previous western animations.

Iron Man is spot on and in tone it is much like Ghost In the Shell... it has an element of politics and buisness besides action.

Wolvie I have not seen yet... basically in the trailer he is unrecognizable as logan in pretty much any way.

I would not say Ironman is spot on, especially if the early episodes are my guiding parameters, but I take it got much better by the time episode 12 came around?
