I have the Archie comics in PDF format. I can share images if you need them. And from what I see in the IDW version, Leonardo and Donatello carry their weapons on their backs and Michelangello and Raphael on their belts.

SickAlice

If you have a screenshot of Mikey with holstered weapons from that series it would be appreciated. I know they are in the belt, just not where and at what angle. For Leo I'm just going to determine which position they used the most in the comics and roll with it. It's for later work. I'm finishing up IDW bits right now and about to work on shortening the calves.

DoctorRuina

In what version of the turtles are you working on? I have two comics of Batman vs Turtles (IDW), but I have them in another house in another city. But I have the Archie version in pdf here.

Here, Mikey carries the nunchakus on his back

In this IDW/Nickelodeon version he carries the nunchakus on his side.  (Personally, I don't like the Nickelodeon version)

SickAlice

Excellent and thank you. I figured it was the back but they just weren't drawing them in most times. The Nick versions are on the backburner. My desire was to create the ones that can't be readily found and then of course things that are easy for skinners and skopers to work with. And making a ton of useful animations for them. So yeah, the Nick versions can be found everywhere. The Archies versions can't anymore than picture perfect 1987 ones or Playmates can so that's what I'm focusing on.

As far as opinions about his holsters I like the film and IDW placement which is on the front of the belt. I think the Turtles weapons should be visible and displayed as part of their overall look and to denote each Turtles personality. Which is always the case for the Turtles with the exception of Mike who they more often seem to just characterize by wide, childlike eyes.

That's really handy btw because that is the same position and I mean literally as the 1987 cartoon which means I already made and place it and don't have to do more work on it.

DoctorRuina

This Mikey with his nunchakus looks great! I'm glad I could help you.

SickAlice

Ty. That's just the base, not the detailed version. I finished the new legs without any error, thankfully as I'm struggling with health issues that make it difficult to see or hold my hand steady. So working bulk keyframe animations now (chucks are actually the only thing I have to finish) and then I can work on putting individual Turtles together and polish. Again as well I am really happy the Archie's just borrowed existing holster positions. I had thought maybe Mikey had them slung on the side on the hips which would have meant a lot more careful work. Else I have to remember to start making FX like thrown weapons and such. I'm cross-working on the Turtle stuff at the same time like the Party Wagon so I can match up the color grades and scales.

SickAlice

Thinking about what their melee idles look like. In art they real extravagant looking poses but in the comics, cartoons and movies they sort of stand relaxed just holding them.

WyldFyre

Most martial arts masters don't drop into a stance when preparing to fight. Stances are mostly an American addition to the arts. It looked better on screen for Bruce Lee to drop into a stance than just stand there and wait on the attacks to come.

SickAlice

I use to use Bruce Lee's stance speaking of. I think I will probably go with the relaxed stance so it looks like the Turtles look in the various versions. Then if I am feeling ambitious a 2nd for each that's more dramatic looking in case anyone wants to use the poses for anything. Going through a bunch of strings right now.

SickAlice

Trailing off I suppose. So idea and goal and maybe anyone knows I have worked and revised the Turtles for years know (getting that shell movement down especially), in fact since I started playing at all and back when we use hex to skope nifs. I study games, models, animations and so on. And revere certain game artists of course as much as I have a big love for game music. I noticed at some point there has never been a proper representation of the 1987 Turtles. There have been "Toon Turtles", the more Looney Tunes/Disney inspired icon ones but never an accurate Murakami-Wolf. The Konami sprite based arcade ones were the closest but they stylized them. Then I started thinking about other iconic Turtles, like the Playmates toys. Then thinking about people like yourselves who all have a great love for the Turtles and love making mods about them.

So the goal and before I pass on is to provide them for whoever wants to use them. Obviously this means making a lot of models and animations by hand and I am looking what community members would want from this. Turtles eating a slice of pizza, playing with a Turtlecom. And as accurate to the source material movements as possible. As usual I am throwing a bunch of other stuff into these that can be done just using the texture for the skinners here. And all of it is male_basic compatible for further use.

So I am asking here because I am trying to be very detailed but also knowing you are fans of different incarnations (yes Pdomark, I am still building an IDW Jennika) what you would like me to put into these. Because these are for all of you and the fun of making them is all I'm getting out of it. Well re-watching Turtle movies and cartoons and reading the comics again for reference too. Looking at the action figures my friends owned when I was little and remembering hanging out with them. Of course that's cool and much needed given I am sort of a waiting period in life right now and need a hobby. And one that is a little less depressing than say scrolling any social network these days.

So yeah if there is something you really want to see go ahead and ask. Chances are I am already making it but I do miss things.

deanjo2000

I just know these are going to be epic. I always liked how they would do a spin attack after getting a power up. I think it was in turtles in time?

"sorry she couldn`t wait" superman to wonderman jla/avengers.

SickAlice

Yeah I'm adding the spin attacks where they are holding their weapons outward lol. And Konami skins and boards and all that. I loved those Konami games so much.

SickAlice

And still making the Turtle Wagon and a couple other TMNT things too that I just didn't mention. Mostly in this case at the same time I can match and color values. It's probably the most fun I ever had working on  :ffvstr: stuff partly because it was one the first things I ever tried to do but I didn't know enough to make it all work and otherwise because I am a huge fan of TMNT so it's just cool to look at this stuff, put on the soundtracks to those Konami games speaking of while working to get me in the mood. So on.

SickAlice

Okay I finished the base animations including adding that spin attack. Later I'll add individual ones. Back to finishing texture bases. IDW mouths left and than on to 2003 I think. I'll do Jennika separate. She's another odd one. At times she has a sword and arrows (bow is hidden?) but doesn't ever seem to use them and they phased out of the design. Else these claw weapons. Sometimes and sometimes they don't. But? They should not be able to retract anyways because there nowhere for blade to go? And sometimes aren't there at all and even suddenly come out of nowhere. It's not consistent and I'll have to think on it. The route I went is the Turtles do not have their weapons except when they use them since that's the common look so I sort of don't want her too either.

Very excited to see what you come up with these Turtles. I know you've been having some life challenges so please take as much time as you need.
I think Jennika's bow and arrows and sword were a temporary weapon. More akin to using throwing stars. Her main weapon is the claws.

Yeah I remember it was something more like used them as a human Foot member and then they sort of carried over in the costume and again were slowly phased out. Looking for comic scan of the bow. I see fan art mostly of the bow and sword but not much else shy an action figure that does have a sword but it isn't what the comic one looked like. I have time for it and she is last on the weapon part because she needs new animations.

Turtle models done and IDW textures. Working on keyframes. I tell you this is the last time I will ever make animated nunchucks. This is exhausting lol. Know I get why some games just cheated and made a "blur" that appears to represent the spinning. And yes I am making accurate throwing star FX and so forth. The FX part is going to be fun but I need a baton template for the thrown weapons.

Well time to sit her in pain glaring forward so this is what I'm doing to take my mind off it. Spine stuff as said. Which this same problem was why I ever started Freedom Force stuff. I was bed ridden for a long time and needed something again to take my mind off it.

The TMNT wiki has a lots of images:
https://turtlepedia.fandom.com/wiki/Jennika_(IDW)/Gallery

There's only really one interior image on there with Jennika using the bow:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/tmnt/images/0/00/Hamato_vs_dragons.png/revision/latest?cb=20221217002241

I didn't see any interior images on the site with the sword but I was only looking quickly. There are lots of covers with the bow and or sword but they are all based on the main concept art:

That interior one is perfect. Thanks. The sword was shown a bit before she mutated and it's a bit more plain looking but interior panel it sort of alternates again before it and the bow are phased out. And it's all a toss up because I want to represent the look that is standard and since they phased that out. Or maybe I will include it and make an alt but bow takes a lot of keyframe animations per keyframe set. Then adding the sword and reversing the animation that are usually from the left side hip. Anyway she's on the backburner so I have time. Still working on the other four..

Again and I am wordy one but any suggestions you guys which again I probably am already on top  of it (I have a flash drive with well over a GB of TMNT reference material on it) because this stuff is for all of you. So if you want to see something ask and I'll drop it on my list (tons of text docs with orders on them too here so I can make a schedule).

edit: I am making x4 weapon attacks for each individual Turtle (make can switch to T-Rope too) and am done with all of them except Leo. So proud of my progress here. And once his done the keyframe set is finished other than doing Jens later of course. Then more textures and setting up separate nif and keyframe sets. Turtle Van is long finished except keyframe animations.

That isn't going to make it happen anymore than the other times you tried that. It takes time and work to make things. That's just logics. And this my hobby. I am not paid to do this and only do it in my spare time as my health or how busy I am in life allows. Else as I said in my site page every time you troll me I stop working on it for a month and use the time for something else so? I guess you will be waiting awhile to release the X-Force stuff then.
