Costume Rating 97: Superman Black Suit

We've been doing the Reign of the Superman so we may as well end with the costume Superman wore when he returned to life:

Dislike-- in addition to being bland, it's also got questionable choices for the bracelets, boots, the neckline, a mullet... and a severe lack of a belt.

Yeah I had to go with Dislike as well. I really hate the neckline and design is just too boring. I'm really not sure about Superman with long hair either.

That said I do like the idea behind this. Black and silver could totally work on Superman, it just needs the right design. The silver S shield in particular looks great.

No, seriously, he needs something to break up the black. Maybe a silver belt... And maybe make the boots black keeping the silver cuffs.

Underoos aren't just a fashion statement, sometimes they are a design element.

I mean you could definitely tweak it and make it look good for what it is, but it probably won't feel enough like Superman without red and blue.

to be fair about the neckline, that's how Superman's neckline usually looks under the cape, and I dislike versions of the design that have the cape with a more normal/high collar (looking at you n52)... but that's WITH a cape. without it it just looks... stupid. And yeah, Superman without the red and blue just isn't right, period.

This one is so "meh"... it didn't rate a dislike because I can't get myself to care enough about it to hate it.  So very boring.

"Dislike". Maybe if more effort was put into the design of the Costume, or if it had cleaner execution, or even if it just didn't have the Mullet, I could consider a higher rating, but as it is, even though I actually do like the colors together, I had to go with the "Dislike".
