Lots of trips to the doctor's recently. Cancer doctor still says I'm cancer free, pulmonologist says the new medication is helping, CPAP machine is a marvel of the age, and today I got sent to the cardiologist. The pulmonologist wants to be sure that my breathing difficulties are all asthma-related before they try to find an exercise regimen to help me lose some weight. No one wants me to drop dead of a heart attack in the middle of jumping jacks.

So, once again they shot radioactive gunk in my veins, zapped me in a big machine, and all I've got to show for it is a headache and a band aid. Fish still ignore me.

spydermann93

The fish might be ignoring, but Lady Luck and the three Healthkateers are definitely by your side!

BentonGrey

Have you tried birds?  I know, I know, fish would be way more awesome, but birds would be cool too.

Seriously though, this is more good news.  I hope that the results are even more encouraging DG!

Results back from the tests show my heart action is normal.

So now I guess they will come up with an exercise regimen and diet (Ugh! "Die" with a "T" on the end).

SO glad to hear that you are on the mend and that everything is going well. Sorry to hear about the DIEt tho. That usually means a little list of the things you can have, and a very LONG list of the the things you can't.  ;)

BentonGrey

Well, a diet is rarely fun, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the results from that and the exercise!

So this week he pulmonologist says that everything looks good. She and the cardiologist will sign off on a monitored exercise program. Now they just have to figure out how to phrase the prescription so that it is covered by insurance...

Now the problem is I may have laryngospasms. I though the apnea was bad...

BentonGrey

Well, the laryngospasms sound rather unpleasant, but that's great news about the pulmonologist report!  It's also good that they're working with you to make sure your insurance can cover the prescription.

Sorry to hear about the larynx problem. I hope it isn't causing you too much trouble with speech and breathing. Sometimes it seems like it's two steps forward and one step back. But, the pulmonary report sounds like improvement, overall.

So, the past week the back pain has been so bad that at times I couldn't walk, and my hands shook to the point I couldn't draw. The pain killers were fogging my brain when I wasn't knocked out. Now, as a side note, my legs had been forming blisters like my blood sugar was acting up, and the crickets in my head (tinnitus) were so loud that I had to turn up the TV.  A little research provided the information that the blood pressure medicine I was taking had several side effects, like severe back ache, tremors, tinnitus, and blisters. I'm not sure about the flatulence; I did, after all, fix a pot of red beans and rice...

So, I'm off that medicine, and they will try another., The doctor thinks my increasing blood pressure is caused by weight, but I can't exercise if I can't stand or walk AT ALL, so the exercise program is postponed.

On the other hand, they decided to re-check by spine, in case a vertebra has collapsed. You know the story by now: radioactive gunk, zappy machines, no powers.

I dunno; if someone could talk to cats, how would you tell since they would ignore you anyway?

MikeB7

Hiya!  Random old-timer popping by the board.  I'm in the lab calculating just the right frequency to transmit BigUps, MuchLove and KeepOnKeepinOn your way.  I cannot be sure it will have any effect at this range, but will continue trying!

BentonGrey

Ohh man, DG, that sounds pretty rough.  I'm sorry you had to deal with all of that, but it's good that you figured out what was causing it.  I hope you can find a better solution.

Epimethee

Yeah, sounds rough indeed. I wouldn't have expected blood pressure meds to cause that... Hopefully, the latest test battery leads to improvements. Of course, MikeB7's (hi Mike! Good to see you!) positive energy wave is probably going to help even more. This guy knows his stuff.

..the AC is out... and I'm in Mobile Alabama in JUNE. It's a 30 year old unit and it's dead. Now I'm trying to get it fixed before it's JULY.

Got a window unit to tide me over, I just gotta install it.

And, amusingly enough, the second blood pressure medicine caused the same side effects as the first. On to number 3...

daglob

...and there is a tropical storm on the way.

You say "Glob, it's miles and miles away, and not even headed in your direction", and I say "It's already raining here".

Of course, that means that the AC isn't missed as much...

spydermann93

Yeah, it's been all bleak and gray outside of my home, with showers every few hours.

Dogs aren't scared. Yet.

And great news about the AC, Glob! Now what humidity isn't doing, the torrential rains sure will :P

BentonGrey

Ohh man, DG, I feel your pain.  I grew up in Ocean Springs, so having no AC on the Coast in June is no laughing matter.  At least you're still in early June.  We had our AC go out (in Arkansas) in the middle of the hottest summer in ages a few years back.  That was a fun time.  Here's hoping that they can get it fixed soon!  Ohh, and that the storm misses you.  :)

This is getting monotonous...

My hands have started shaking, as kind of expected since the last two BP meds did that too. Supposedly, the worst effects will pass as my body adjusts to the meds.

But the window unit is in and it works. The cats don't like the growling monster in the window, but they have been sneaking in during the night to hide under the bed or computer table or in the closet to enjoy the cool.

The urologist who originally diagnosed the cancer says I shouldn't have a prostate anymore. It decided after the chemo it would leave. Actually, it was 99% cancerous, so when the chemo killed it, the body said "lets get rid of that thing".

And another thing. My mother died nearly five years ago; she went in the hospital for a minor problem and the whole thing spiraled out of control and she died. My brother, the executor of her estate, discovered that she had a paid-up policy on my father (since the '80s). In the '90s, she had the beneficiary changed from her to her estate. The insurance company is doing a lot of hemming and hawing, trying to make us meet requirements that have been met or are not applicable, but in the final analysis, unless they get extremely imaginative, they will have to pay. Now it's not a lot of money, although for the time it was bought it was decent. But now it would be enough to get the AC on this house replaced.

The woman has been gone for five years and she is still looking out for me.

BentonGrey

That is indeed weird!

Wow, that's a great and strange discovery.  I hope things come through smoothly.

No heinous glop, no radioactive injections, they just put me in a machine and slid me back and forth a little.

They aren't even trying to give me super powers anymore...

... And the pulmonologist says she doesn't want to do another for a whole year.

Jeeze!

spydermann93

Sheesh. What do you even pay those doctors for, anyways?

Spoiler
Seriously, though, I'm REALLY happy to hear that you're doing better, Glob!

BentonGrey

Well heck, you'll never get superpowers that way!

Yay!  That sounds like good news, DG!

Congrats on the prognosis, DG. And if you REALLY want super powers, you can have some of mine. I have the uncanny ability to frustrate and annoy people at random, plus the capability to be a pain in the arse to so many others. Feel free to help yourself!  ;)
