Spoiler
Dan Akroyd is mostly failing to sound much like the Yogi bear I grew up with.  The Boo Boo voice wasn't bad, though.

The other complaint is, how on earth did they manage to do a CGI Yogi that looks like a guy in a bear suit?

But, if it's funny and clean, I could see letting my kids watch it.

Spoiler

First:  Just an overall facepalm.

Second: That's Justin Timberlake?  As Boo-Boo?  Never would have called that one.

Third: "In 3-D"  Isn't this how 3-D died the first time - too many lame movies tried to cash in?

Fourth: (sigh) Just because you can CG, doesn't mean you should.

I don't expect this to be a box office hit, but I want it to be at least entertaining.

Is Hollywood running out of ideas that they are bringing back old cartoons and revamping them?  If that the case, redo Josie & The Pussycats & the Groove Goolies

Except for the presence of Dan Akroyd (Though I agree, the voice is off) there is nothing about this film that grips me.

I know, but I was hoping they would do something like the Scooby Doo movies.

Give 'em time.  Even major studios can only crank out so many movies at a time.  I bet 'The Jetsons' movie rights are sitting somewhere just waiting for a greenlight.

I have a theory that today's movie-makers are right around my age, probably somewhere in the 40-50 age bracket, and saw all of the old TV shows I used to watch when I was a kid.  So they started out getting inspiration from the movies and TV they watched as young adults, regressed back into their teen years, and are now moving backward through adolescence.

Which means a full-length 3-D Three Stooges movie is only a few years away, shortly to be followed by Captain Kangaroo in 3-D.

Well... there is supposedly a Jetsons film in development.  it's due out in 2012.  The director is set to be some guy named Robert Rodriquez.  Adam Goldberg is writing the script.

As for Three Stooges... there is a live action Three Stooges film due out in 2012 as well.  At one point, Sean Penn was involved with that.

No word on Captain Kangaroo.

Oh dear god. Hollywood has gotten so bad about remakes that you can't even make a joke about them remaking something without it being actually true.

That's a bit of an overstatement, is it not, GG?  Why, I simply cannot wait to see Step Up 3D--with its various spastic limbs and gyrating pelvises and out thrust bums virtually brushing against my corneas--in the theatre!

Not to go off topic, but when I heard about Step-Up in 3D, two words came to my mind:

I had a similar reaction, but in my case it was Breakin' 2:  Electric Boogaloo!

Let me tell you the Future *puts on magic hat*

-Yogi Bear will get mix reviews, but will make enough money that Hanna Barbera will make more of these movies.
-Huckaberry Hound will be next
-Smurfs will be a huge hit and they will make a Snorks movie
-HB will also want to cash in on the Super Hero movie gig, so expect to see a Space Ghost & Bird Man movie.
-All of this stuff will get out of hand and the movie business will kill over.....

Actually, if it were to be done well (there's no guarantee of that, of course)...A Space Ghost film might be really cool.
