I've sick the past few days and this is the first real smile I've had in a while.  Keep up posted on the progress, I really want to see how this one looks finished.  (some great touches here, like the exaust rings on the jets.  I can only imagine what else they may work in)

Principle Photography begins

...The pilot episode explores Buck?s life both leading up to and just after being propelled into the 25th century. September filming focused on Buck Rogers? life at home in the early 20th century, with the Penfield Museum in Crown Pointe, NY serving as the location for the Rogers? family farm.

Also starring Gil Gerard, well known as ?Buck Rogers? from the 1979 Larson/Mantley television series, and Erin Gray (?Wilma Deering? of the same series) as Buck?s parents...

It looks like, unlike their Star Trek series, they have full and legal rights to Buck Rogers, which means they can sell the DVDs later, and possibly make a transition to a full TV series if the right people like it.  We'll see how the full retro goes over, but I'm liking it so far.  Really look forward to seeing more.

I loved the '70s show and seeing two main fan favorite actors play the parents of the new Buck Rogers seems like the perfect way to pass the baton as far as I'm concerned. I'm still trying to wash the stain off my brain that Sci-Fi channel's modernized version left on me. So if this series gets picked up it would be nice to follow for many years to come.

Are you thinking of Flash Gordon, because I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a new version of Buck Rogers in over 20 years.

D'oh! Well, all the better that word gets out for this new take on Buck Rogers to show Hollywood a classic can be modernized on some levels but still done properly and be a tribute at the same time to all previous versions (the only other show holding that position being Battlestar Galactica at the moment).

BSG took the basic source material and jumped completely off the deep end with it.  It's more like a sequal to the original than a remake.

Wow! I'm impressed to see how well Gerard and Gray took to their roles because unless I really pushed to remember who the actors were I couldn't recognize them. And Bobby Rice held up pretty well in the role of the new Buck at that early stage in his life. So the serial has won me over in the acting department so far but I really am dying to see how well the retro FXs will be done to keep the time period feel but also take it up a few notches to what Hollywood would have done if they had the correct tools and more modern ways to pull off "the look of the future".
