Guess my idea isnt a big name actor but the guy who plays Green Arrow on smallville might make a decent Cap if he bulked up a little bit more.

His voice doesn't seem right to me. Of course, i realize that's a pretty minor criticism, considering that comic-book characters likely sound different to different readers anyway, and that, with the single exception of the characters from Batman- The Animated Series, I'm not sure I've ever seen a movie or tv show based on comic book characters where they actually did sound right to me...
Fear the "A"!!!

You know...that's actually not that bad...although he'd make a better Aquaman...*mumblegrumblemumble*

Not going to happen.  DC/ WB won't let that happen.

Personally, I like Mark Valley for Cap - he's got the square-jawed look, and I've liked him in everything he's been in:

As a bonus, he's a West Point grad and served in Desert Storm, how do you beat that for a super soldier?

Hmm, he definitely looks right Bujin.  I imagine he's probably a little too old though.  I've never seen him in anything, but I'll be darned if he doesn't look just about right.  He'd need lighter hair, but that's about it.

:EDIT:  You know, if Thomas Jane were a few years younger, he'd be pretty good for the part.

Mr. Hamrick

I hadn't thought about Justin Hartley but now that I did, I agree.  Though he may be too linked with Green Arrow (not a bad thing though) and the film would need some big names in the cast opposite and supporting him.  Though with Sam Jackson playing Nick Fury and Scarlett Johannson playing The Black Widow, they could get the big names in supporting roles.

As for the casting process, UnflufyBunny, it's sometimes worse than that!

House Quake

Who they cast as Cap totally depends on what direction they would want to go with the character.  I like Walhberg, Pitt, Damon, Jane...

But the guy I would love to see play him most is Tahmoh Penikett... aka Helo from Battlestar Galactica and starring in Dollhouse on Fox.   He's a 6'3 with a good build and could probably get 'ripped' very easily.  He's a good young actor who is 'known' but not established in movies yet.

Glitch Girl

HQ, that is a wonderful suggestion.  I thought he was great on BSG and I've been liking him on Dollhouse as well.  I think I have a new favorite "hypothetical casting".

Is everyone just trying to make me cry? :banghead:

He can't act. At all. In fact, it's like he does negative acting. He can't even make a punch look real.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

John Cena as Captain America? Oh, heck no!

Speaking of wrestlers, though, Mr. Kennedy is fairly close to what Captain America would look like physically, if you go by Cap's physical stats in the old Marvel Universe Handbooks. Wouldn't want him playing the character, either, though.

There was a discussion over at Byrne Robotics several months ago about people rumored to be up for the role at various points, with some people chiming in with their suggestions. Someone suggested Paul Walker. I'm not too sure how I'd feel about that.

If they decide to do an Invaders movie, I want Jason Statham as Union Jack and Kate Beckinsale as Spitfire, though. And I'm not joking.

BentonGrey

Oh good lord no!  Paul Walker is about as much of an actor as John Cena....or a two-by-four, take your pick!

OK Fine.... I'll do it.
I'll play Cap.

There dilemma solved!

I also thought, a long time ago, that Mark Valley looks like Cap, and he can act.

I think I like HQ's suggestion as well - he is a younger guy and probably could do good with the role
