Of course, mainly because I'm studying heads and have an idea brewing. What I totally want though is a tutorial on making them if you please, without Max of course. I've taken apart a lot of heads and keep finding a different structure to each and can't make heads or tails of the process myself. To be fair here I only actually have one head idea I want to make so it isn't all that pressing but I do strive to learn everything. Thanks.

I didn't think people were even using these anymore.

Quote...without Max...
I've never tried to make one with nifskope before, I only know how to use max. Can you tell me your idea? Maybe I could use max to make it.

Even though I've never used a "Head.Nif" myself, I think I've downloaded everything you've made from every Yahoo Group you have. Whenever I make a Skope, I go through all of your stuff to see if there's anything I can use for it.

@bearded: Well I use Blender though. So I could take say and existing head and borrow the weights from it. I can make models just not animations from scratch in a nutshell I have to a base to work off of. The thing is I don't even grasp the basics, like the structure of head nif, what it has to have and why if you know what I mean. I'm more looking to learn and that's one of the areas where I have no knowledge at all. Between that and scripting at this point. Also I'm still pretty weak when it comes to making levels though I'm getting better this year. Or if you can point me to a good tutorial. Even it's MAX I can work out the differences. Thanks again.

I can tell you what I know about max. It is not like the standard character nif at all. The animations aren't real animations, the talking and such are merges.
First, you have your camera set up to focus on the main head nif. The main head is the base model, and you have to make sure the vertexes are all merged except for the three mouth verts, they have to be broken, for opening. Then, there are five other head models, each with a different expression, a. open mouth b. closed eyes c. angry d. sad e. slightly tilted head.
The game engine takes the camera focused head base and seems to randomly merge the other head models onto it, morphing style.
I don't know if blender has a camera, or if it would be compatable. Skoping seems more likely, if it leaves the cam alone. You would have to make your changes to the base head, and then change every other head in exactly the same way, allowing for tipping. You could add things in front of the camera, but they would be static, unless you added the morpher.
:ffvstr: is more complicated, in that there are more expressions.
