I must say, the show's really off to a good start this year.  I enjoyed Absorbing Man and I like that they didn't make him weaker so the agents can beat him.  He's somebody way above their weight class and everyone knows it.  I was also wondering how Ward would still be in the main cast and this way makes sense.  All in all, a good start and I look forward to the rest of the season.

Yeah, I was very happy with the premiere. I think the most important thing is that last year it took me almost the entire season to care about the characters, but this year I'm already engaged. That's a good sign.

Spoiler

Looks like Xena's checking out early. Disappointing but I was suspicious when her subordinate Hunter was listed in the main cast and she wasn't. Also surprised that Triplett is still just a guest star.

Ward's current situation seems interesting, I'll be interested in how they handle him over the course of the season.

Very impressed with the Absorbing Man. When I heard he'd be on the show I wasn't excited, I thought he'd just be a monster of the week with limited special effects, but I really liked the way they used him.

And the closing scene with Fitz made me sad. He and Simmons are my favorites, and I'm very curious where she is and how long she'll be missing physically.

Also Kraken! Had to look up who the Hydra leader was, but it's cool to see Marvel continue to mine Secret Warriors for stories. The whole Hydra within SHIELD originated there.

I'll echo that.  The Absorbing Man was more than I hoped.  I especially liked the touch of him weaponizing the chained barrier.  But I'm glad he's sticking around.

JeyNyce

I don't know for sure but..

Spoiler
It looks like Ward is going to be the Hannibal type character.  I'll sit in a cell and give you clues/ info on how to catch the bad guy

All-in-all, that was a great way to start the second season

Watched the premier today, since it was my day off. I was very impressed with it. Honestly, the premier last year didn't do it for me and I missed most of the show because we don't have a DVR. When I heard everyone's praises after Cap2, I subscribed to Hulu and caught the end of the season. I really enjoyed the last six or so episodes.

This premiere definitely set a different tone, and I appreciated it for that. I am looking forward to next week (and hoping for another Guardians of the Galaxy tie-in soon).
I am not, nor have I ever been a Rude Naked Hero!

Spoiler
From what I've heard, Lucy has been contracted for multiple episodes, so either we'll be getting flashbacks, or there's more to their death's than we know.  I'm 90% sure they're going to introduce LMDs this season, so there's that

I really enjoyed the episode and I'm looking forward to the coming season.

Spoiler
I think they already did tip their LMD hand with Eric/Billy (Patton Oswalt).  At the very least there's something odd about them - given that the "new" one didn't seem to have any knowledge of the "old" one.  I must say I was quite disappointed that Simmons was a figment of Fritz's damaged imagination.  As a plot device it seems very trite.

Spoiler

He mentions in his first appearance at the end of last season that his brother has died.  It's mentioned in passing and in a rather odd way though.  There is something strange going on their, alright.

I'm just guessing here, but...

Spoiler
What if all of Patton Oswalt characters are LMD?  Highly advance LMD that are aware.  It would a nod to Avengers 2, saying that Stark was using Eric/ Billy as demos.

This second season is starting off way better than the first.  So far it's been not stop action and next week looks like it's going to be good too

We've watched the first episode of this season (with me out of town for most of the week, we're behind on shows), and we were pretty impressed.  I have to say, though:
Spoiler
Fitz's reveal broke my heart.  My wife says that if they don't 'fix' him and bring Simmons back, she's not going to keep watching.  ;)

As with many of the rest of you, I was also impressed with the Absorbing Man.  They did a good job with him, and the ball-and-chain homage was cool.

Another action-packed episode with answers, a look at HYDRA as an organization (pretty much establishing them to be the comic book styled large and well-funded organization now) and they even brought back what seemed to be a one-off comic character and did so in a great way.  I'm also pretty happy with their use of Ward so far.

So am I.  I actually like where the show is trending compared to where it was this time last year.  I remember one of my hopes of the show was to get more "secret agent" serial with "supernatural/superhero" elements and I think we finally got it.  That was this episode.  Actually the last three have been like that.  But I also appreciate the fact they really dropped the pretense of HYDRA being a behind the scenes unknown element and is the complete foil to S.H.I.E.L.D.  Skye's more complete.  May is May.  Fitz has a different angle, which is intriguing at least.  And of course Simmons is... /spoiler.  Even Coulson still has his weird thing that's going on with him.  The two new comers(three including Trip) adds another dynamic to what was previously a pretty static group.  And as you mentioned Cat, I also like what they're doing with Ward.  The show is almost 360 degrees from where it was last year.  That's a good thing.

Podmark

Count me among those very happy with this seasons start. The new characters, Hunter and Mack, are already winning me over too. Skye is much improved I think, and Ward and Fitz have interesting directions thus far.

I think the key reason why Agents Of SHIELD ended up feeling so meh during the first half of season one was the writers being handcuffed without full knowledge of where the show was going. All of the potential of each character felt restrained outside of Agent Coleson, May, and Fitz/Simmons which already fell into the groove early on but you were not sure if they would make it out of the second season once Hydra was let out of hiding.

I'm loving the show even more then ever and really hoping that some of my friends which bailed on the earlier first season shows might give it a second chance now that the show is allowed to spread it's wings.

I really like the relationship between Coleson & May.  It reminds me of Fury & Coleson or Fury & DumDum.

Okay, that restaurant was probably some of the most entertaining television I've seen in a long, long, long time!

Season 2 continues to impress, and my wife is now wholly onboard, which is awesome.

I'm guessing since the show is depending on the movies for support, there's going to be a lot of action this season.  Also I heard a rumor that...

Spoiler
Bobbi, Mocking Bird, will be on for a few episodes and then moving on to bigger things.  Could it be possible that she will be in one of the upcoming Marvel movies?

Mid season finale was awesome

Spoiler
It seems that they are going to stay close to the comics.  Skye (Daisy) father told her about a transformation that she will go through, and she did.  Just like the comics, they were expose to the gas that active their Inhuman powers.  Raina seems to have grown spikes and I think Skye is now super strong

Spoiler
More likely she's got vibrational powers, since there's been a pretty heavy implication she's "Daisy Johnson" aka Quake.

JeyNyce

Thanks, Mato I was going to look that up later on.

Spoiler
My roommate and I had been speculating on that for awhile now... the dad being their interpretation of Mr Hyde fit with what they'd established. Daisy's origin is also lifted pretty much from the comics (except it was the dad she inherited powers from) though ironically she's the agent who recruited Coulson and Fury Jr. into SHIELD for the comics.

Spoiler

I see no way that that turns out to be anything else.  Sky's name has been revealed to be Daisy, her father's first name is the same as Quakes father, an earthquake triggers when she comes out of the cocoon, her dad is similar to Hyde, Quake's father, etc.

Anyhow, it was very cools seeing the Inhumans for real now.  That will likely be a major part of the show going forward.  I just hope Tripp isn't really dead.  I had heard he was going to appear in Age of Ultron, so hopefully not.

Edit:
Spoiler

Just read an interview with the producers in which they confirm two things
1. Sky is Quake
2. Tripp is dead

Re the finale:

Spoiler

Enjoyed it. The Inhuman direction has been speculated all season, as has Sky's true identity.

It's funny, I'm a fan of Daisy Johnson in the comics after reading Secret Warriors, but I'm not a big fan of Sky. In season 1 I didn't really like her, but she's better in season 2. So I'm not really sure if I'm happy with Sky being revealed to be her. We'll see.
I do like "Cal". A nice adaptation of Hyde.

Really sad to see Trip die. I liked him.

Has anyone noticed how much better Fitz is doing in the latest episodes? Seemed kinda fast to me.

And it's back.  My tv refused to show ABC very well, so I caught mostly bits of it, but I think I got most of it.

My biggest thought is--we may be seeing the start of the MCU's Civil War right here.

Spoiler

With the Inhumans beginning to because known Simmons and probably others are beginning to see all superpowers as a threat--one that needs to be eradicated.  This leads to Sky hiding her new powers, with Fitz's help.  I can see from this how as Inhumans because more known, people in the MCU may see to need to control and regular them and others with powers, which could be a major factor in the Civil War.

Starman

I'm getting a Mutant Registration Vibe with all the potential superhumans spread all over the world. Also, has anyone seen the film "Nightbreed"? Kind of a huge visual inspiration for the MCU Inhuman's costume-free appearance.

JeyNyce

I was getting that too, so instead of heroes registration, it going to be an Inhuman registration act and Iron man & Cap are going to be fighting over that in Captain America Civil War.  I can see this and the Avengers movie is going to start it off with Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver

Just watched the two part season finale.  Very, very good and a game changer in several ways.  BIG spoilers in the tags.

Spoiler

Cal briefly transforms into a more monstrous Hyde form.  He's also being manipulated by his wife. That village that was destroyed?  His wife made him feed them to her.
The attempt to spray Terragin gas everywhere is foiled by Sky.  Unknown to SHIELD, the ocean has been infected with Terragin crystals and many people are going to be ingesting the stuff without knowing it.  That can't be good.
Coulson has his hand chopped off in order to safe him from the Terragin crystal that he caught.
Sky will be leading SHIELD's first superpowered team.  It sounds like they'll be using secret identities.
Ward appears to be trying to take over Hydra, which has been left leaderless after the events of Avengers 2.
And last but not least, the mysterious Kree artifact sucks Simmons into itself.  I do hope she isn't dead or gone.

All in all it's been an excellent second season and I look forward to an even better third season.

Yep. VERY impressed with the season finale!
Spoiler
Mister Hyde was pretty cool to see in his form.  Kyle M story at first seemed rather random at first, but it came together well...  Just the same, to see Daisy/Skye's arch through the series I have to say I'm far more appreciative of how far she's come.    Chloe B really does the action well...  Was also glad to see the Inhumans story wrap up rather well without a leader...  The Mockingbird/Ward/Agent 33 fight was pretty wonderful...  Also glad to see Hydra continue.  To see it continue to be a foil for SHIELD is something to look forward to in Season 3.
