I love Sandman, but have pretty mixed feelings about this.

Did anyone notice it has the exact same cast as Don Jon? I wonder if it also involves Morpheus coming to terms with his sex dream addiction.

Starman

I don't really think this will work as a movie. There is just too much story for it to be adapted as anything shorter than a TV series. Plus, they will have to cut out all the DC comics references because they were so obscure they'd just confuse a casual audience.

BentonGrey

Yeah, great stories, but I don't know that an adaptation would stand a chance.

I think a solid director could really bring it to life.

I can't even imagine how amazing it would be if someone like Guillermo Del Toro took the reins.

I would have preferred this as a miniseries by HBO or something, though.

BentonGrey

Yeah, that would work pretty well, I bet.

Yeah, my list of 'great' directors for the material:

Spike Jonze (if he does not write, I love his scripts but too meta)
Michel Gondry (master of dream based movies like Science of Sleep, somehow also the Green Hornet)
Guillermo del Toro (probably the best choice, I agree with laughing paradox)
Julie Taymor (Frida, Titus Andronicus, Across the Universe, lots of theater).
