I'm pretty much Anti-New52, but this doesn't sound too bad.

That is incredibly obnoxious.  Also, it is just bad freaking business.  DC is apparently run by morons.  Aquaman is being written by their most popular author.  It is one of the best selling books out right now, for both DC AND Marvel, and he's enjoying a real renaissance.  So, let's replace him in the story which was WRITTEN TO INCLUDE HIM with Captain freaking Marvel.  How well is his book selling these days?  Ohh right, he doesn't have one.  He's an annoying back-up strip in JLA that I was always tempted to skip because it simply wasn't very good.

Aw... I like Captain Marvel.  He was pretty great in Kingdom Come (now why isn't THAT been adapted into an film yet?)

Stinks for the Aqua faithful like Benton though.   ;)

I've never read JL: War, but the trailer makes it look like an Elseworlds title.  Might be interesting.

I like Captain Marvel fine, but he's got no business in this story!  This is just an adaptation of the first story arc of the New 52 Justice League book, and Aquaman is one of the founding members of the League in that book, just like he's been in every incarnation!

As a huge fan of Shazam, I love that he is in this but I agree that Aquaman shouldn't have been left out. Shazam should have been included and not a replacement for Aquaman and yes I am calling him Shazam and not Captain Marvel. I actually really like the name change. DC has changed the origin story and left it somewhat confusing, so I altered it. You can read it here http://www.scribd.com/doc/182723221/My-Origin-of-Shazam

So my wife surprised me by picking this up for me, and though not up to par with some of the other DC animated movies, it actually wasn't too bad.

Spoiler
So, I never read the original story that this was based on, so I have nothing really to compare it to. The art actually wasn't too bad, voice acting could have been much better (Wonder Woman was horrible), I didn't really care for Shazam/Captain Marvel, and I actually would have preferred if Aquaman had been in the movie instead.

Overall though, I was entertained, and it is something that I will watch again.

To be fair to the Aquaman point... Yes, he shouldn't have been left out, but from what I can tell the intent is to actually bring him in with the next n52 story, based on the Atlantis Attacks event from the comics. As it was, he was kind of tacked on in the original comic, not showing up until near the end of the book and looking more like an Atlantean hobo than a king of Atlantis. It made sense in the comic because it was about establishing the JL, but if holding off one more film means giving less indoctrinated audiences a better taste of the character, then I'm ok with that.

On the flipside, the introduction of Shazam in the story served it better. You had a character with more visually interesting powers for the fight scenes, you had the interaction of Billy Batson with Cyborg (which made it easier to establish both characters) and his sense of wonder about what's happening gives the story a different perspective.

And again, I don't see this as cutting Aquaman out. It's about giving him a bigger entrance in the next film.

Saw it and the only thing that saved it was Shazam. :)

Terrible flick IMO. Everything from the VO to the story arc was seriously lacking. I agree with the Captain that Shazam was the highlight.

Very unimpressed. Everyone acted like jerky teenagers. I miss the DCAU. No fan of the new52 and this didn't change my mind.

I meant to post on this earlier, thought I did actually, but apparently not.

Spoiler
I'll agree that Captain marvel's powers were more visually entertaining than Aquaman's would have been, and that the interaction between Batson and Stone served the characters well, but I've never been real fan of the Captain, which may have had something to do with my biased opinion. However, I still stand on my original statement, the voice acting for Wonder Woman was HORRIBLE.

I'm watching this now and I have to say DC should run back to the TIMM verse now!  This has to be the most poorly acted DCU cartoon I've seen in a while.
