QuoteRocksteady Studios, the British developer behind Batman: Arkham Asylum and its sequel Batman: Arkham City, is believed to be developing a new installment of the blockbuster video-game series that will feature Superman, Wonder Woman and DC Comics' other major heroes.

Variety reports the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment game will serve as a prequel to 2009′s Arkham Asylum and revolve around Batman's first meeting with his arch-nemesis The Joker, which apparently occurs around the time of the Justice League's formation. Although the trade paper references DC comics of the 1950s, it seems more likely the team lineup will reflect the publisher's New 52.

DC's top-tier characters already appear together in DC Universe Online and the newly released LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, and will reteam next year in Injustice: Gods Among Us. But a Rocksteady-produced game would take the heroes' profile, and reach, to another level: Batman: Arkham Asylum sold 4.3 million copies, only to be surpassed last year by the sequel Arkham City, which sold a staggering 6 million copies in its first month of release.

The game would debut in 2014 at the earliest, ahead of the proposed 2015 release of Warner Bros.' long-developing Justice League movie.

is it just me, or do those concept drawings look like they were pulled from a Metal Hurlant/DeviantArt page? Like if Moebius and slash fiction worked together.....  dang im spiteful today.
Someone previously mentioned, if it was a Year One type prequel, that would be pretty killer,  but you have to look at the trend of increasing the controls.
One of the major draws of the Rocksteady games are the amazing controls.  the combat system is nearly flawless,  especially with including the quick gadgets and everything.
Now if they are doing a prequel, they might have to scale down the gadgets a lot...since Batman would be less experienced, etc.  Now this also serves a double purpose.  if its a prequel,  less abilities for Batman, means more time devs can spend on working on combat systems for the other JLA'ers  I kind of feel that this is a bit of a copout.
I'd rather have one character with a flawless control scheme than 5 charaters with sub-par controls.

Wasn't that one of the bigger problems critics had with Lego Batman 2? The controls for GL and Supes seemed a bit wonky in flight?

Ugh, why does GL have toes? didn't they learn from the movie?

Metal Hurlant? Look at you fancy pants!

I agree though, Batman is pretty bad but I love the Wonder Woman design, I always want her to be more of a warrior.

That said I have a lot of trust for Rocksteady... they seem to know what to adapt and what to imitate.

I have every faith in Rocksteady to deliver a game that will be both fun and dynamic.

This is very exciting news, as I feel a Justice League game from Rocksteady could hold the precedent for future superhero games. This could be a total game changer, pun intended.

Where are those images from? I didn't see it in any of the articles I've seen about this news. I must admit.. with the exception of Diana... I find those displeasing.
