What happens when our domains don't get renewed?  What happens when people don't pay attention to DNS?

Websites disappear.  Like PVP did today.

Oops.

Sure, now it is.  You better believe that the domain got renewed post-haste once it was realized that the site was down.

Earlier, when I looked at it, the registrar had it marked as pending renewal or termination.

Only a few years ago, forgetting to renew your domain would take your domain resolution down for a full day.  Fortunately for PvP, it only takes a few hours at most these days.
