Did anyone else catch this programme?  Was anyone else geeking out whilst spotting all the "Twin Peaks" hallmarks (from the long, lingering nature shots, to the ceiling fans, to the Angelo Badalamenti/Julee Cruise-esque music) during the show?  If you missed it, you can still view the full episode at the following URL:

If I may be permitted a rare moment of unambiguous heterosexuality,

may I note that Sherilyn Fenn has still got it?  Strewth!  The time I used to devote to thinking about Audrey Horne in the early 1990s boggles the mind...

I dont watch Psych... would I be lost if I jump directly into this episode? I love me some twin peaks.

That said I recomend the game Puzzle Agent, it is like a G rated twin peaks crammed into a brain teaser game.

Nor do I, and I had no difficulty following the episode.
Spoiler

If you can grasp the basic premise that the protagonist who poses as a psychic investigator is, in truth, merely a very perceptive detective of Holmesian proportions (seemingly endowed with a photographic memory), then you should have no problem keeping pace with the show.

P.S. Interestingly, lou, this episode received a brief notice in the Boston Metro, your sometime editorial stomping ground. ;)

"Twin Peaks" was created by David Lynch (Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, Inland Empire, etc.) and Mark Frost ("Hill Street Blues") as a television series that ran for two seasons in 1990-1991.  Without giving away any major spoilers, I will say that the series followed the often bizarre FBI investigation of a murder that affected every member of the quaint (a la the epitome of the American 1950s small town, though set in then present-day 1989) lumber mill town of Twin Peaks, Washington.  The series ended abruptly in 1991 with a cliffhanger that haunts every Twin Peaks fan to this day, though it did spawn a major motion picture (which served as a prequel to the television series) featuring most of the original television series cast, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, in 1992.

And after that great summary by ow_tiobe_sb let me just add the tone of it. It is creepy and dirty, but in a wholesome and campy enviroment. If you have seen Blue Velvet by Lynch you might know what I mean. Think a two season long episode of the X-Files where every character and every situation is just a tiny bit off, and mix in a drop of Saturday Night Live in terms of strange and silly performances that can be quite menacing sometimes.

Twin Peaks was such a great show and I watched this Psych episode last night and loved it. It was a pretty funny episode and I loved the random references to Twin Peaks, like the lady talking to a log (though it was actually her grandson behind her.)

I loved the prequel movie, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.. I'd also like to recommend for any Twin Peaks fans to watch The Kingdom. (The Dutch version).

Big fan of Psych. Was watching last nights episode while wishing I knew anything about Twin Peaks to get all the references. I feel that I missed a lot of stuff that I just didn't get.

Same here, but I still enjoyed it.  Got a lot more out of the Friday the Thirteenth tribute episode, but it was still fun on its own.
