Of all the things they could do to continue the franchise, they do a reboot...
Although they released only one trailer, I can honestly say I have zero interest in it.

While I enjoyed RE 4 and 5 and the new direction they went in. I'm starting to miss the old days of the T and G viruses with shuffling zombies. I would rather they just do current gen remakes of RE 1, 2, and 3 rather than reboot the entire series.

Wow. Devil May Cry: Emo Edition ?
The "futuristic" setting is in complete opposition with the majestuous gothic environnement we're used to.
The music...the heavy metal was as much part of the mood than the architecture, so definitely different too.
The gameplay,: looks like an improvement, closer to prototype, if we can get rid of the "corridor" mentality that plagued some of the serie (2 and 3 to an extent)
The character design: quit smoking, a--hole. Dante was cool, and he didn't need to be a fake rebel with a cigarette and emo haircut. Also, what did you do to your sword? Is that a whip? Trying to emulate Kratos, or Castlevania perhaps?

"What is your name?_Dante" No. No it's not.

Maybe as a sequel to prototype, but trying to tie this to the DMC franchise seems weird (well, not from an advertisement point of view, franchise always sells better). Maybe it was a new product that got rebranded last minute because they feared it wouldn't sell on it's own?

it's true that he always had a lot of mommy and daddy issue still dante wasn't the kind to lock himself in his room to cut himself, he was more likely to go outside to cut everybody else.

That doesn't sound right because he's mostly smoking and fighting.  I rather have the wise-cracking, butt-kicking Dante.

In all fairness, thats pretty much in line with the attitude of the game.

Maybe he was just in character.
