NOOOOW we're talkin'. Shazam's presence in the DC animated & live action movies is sorely missed & long overdue. A team-up w/ Supes is going to be AWESOME... and, also, long overdue. It does get old when the only interaction you ever see or hear about between the 2 titans is "which one can kick the other's butt?" Good guys shouldn't fight each other, people, come on! Plenty of bad guys to fight out there. Glad to see they'll be takin' it to Black Adam.

Better than nothing I guess, but I want a full feature length animated move of Captain Marvel, Superman and Black Adam. I agree that having Cap and Supes fighting each other is not right. Heroes shouldn't fight each other. I would love to watch Black Adam however pummel the man of steel into pulp.

Yes, it is. The link has been removed.

Sorry about that guys. I guess because it wasn't a torrent that you needed to download through a app I thought it was ok. Pretty ignorant about this type of stuff.

i'm gonna buy it and scott pilgrim next tuesday. well...is there a battle royal between supes/cap and blk. adam?

freegentile

Indeed there is a battle royale. Pretty well done, I must say, for the short amount of time. I like that DC tends to stick w/ the voices they had in JL/JLU or STAS/BTAS. Black Adam's a bad dude...& they cast his voice well, also...so they showcase his abilities pretty well. As someone else noted, Superman does get his clock cleaned a bit too easily, but he ultimately holds his own. Hopefully, now that origins are out of the way, we can get on to Cap being more than just the big dude w/ a pre-adolescent mind gig. Really well done animation, good work all around, hope to see this kind of stuff in feature length.

got it and really liked it. i like the way they portray superman in the animated movies better than they do in comics. they power him down enough to make him interesting. i also liked the fact that he's not all pumped up in this movie too. another awsome fight is green arrow and the thug he fights on the luggage conveyor. best animated fight ive seen yet.

I enjoyed all the featues. Green Arrows fight with the thug on the luggage conveyor was definately one of the best "normal human" animated fights I've seen. I wsh the mainn feature had been longer though. I agree that Superman in the animated movies and justice league tends to be a much more viable and interesting character that presently in the comics. I prefer the lower but still impressive power level myself also.

The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was short.  On the plus side the movie was great.  I hope they do one with Shazam by himself.

I agree with Jey...a nice short.  I think that the action in the old JLA/JLU cartoons was better though.  The under-powered version of Supes is awesome!

How short are we talking, is it worth buying?

catwhowalksbyhimself

Well, keep in mind, this is actually a collection of five short movies, the Marvel one is the only new one, but the others are decent too, so if you don't have them already, it's a pretty good value.

About 30 minutes for the new movie.

Well, i ,recieved my copy today, and since i had never seen any of the Dc Showcase before i was very curious
At first, the comic-book store intro surprised me (no comic book store here, so it still an unfamiliar place to me), but i came to like it. I'm not sure, but i'm willing to bet the first guy we see hiding his face behind a comic book is actually bruce tim (or someone who has exactly the same hair cut)
So, the shorts:
_Superman/Shazam: a few "complaints" first. they don't name the gods who give captain marvel his powers (the acronyme bit was always a fun part of the character) and
Spoiler
black adam dies in the end when he's supposed to be a recuring villain
. Otherwise, wow. The voice acting is top notch (the accent of black adam suprised me, but it gives a nice flavour to his interpretation) and the animation is of equal if not greater quality than that of the full length animated movies.
There's enough background given to the characters so that it does not become a smash fest, but not so much that it becomes boring (by being overwhelming, or too much at a time): my girlfriend who didn't knew the character didn't find it boring and now know who he is. I wish they had referenced ancient egypt though, even just for a black adam's birth flashback (but maybe that wasn't in the orginal comic book, didn't read it).
And finally the fight scenes are excellent, with a powered-down superman (and trigger happy with the heat vision) who's really interesting to watch (whithout stealing marvel's thunder).
So great movie (not Mask of the Fantasm good but solid enough to launch a full serie inspired by it...one can dream)

Then: The Spectre. Great mood, lighting and music. EXCEPT the fake film-damage applied to it (yeah i know it's the 70's style...but still, cliché and overdue. Don't use a preset and make your own next time). Voice acting is ok, but not really convinced by Alyssa Milano. The action scene have great tension, especially the "cinema's monters" one
Spoiler
(count orlock, king kong...nice reference)
. So an ok movie, but 10/13 minute was enough, not sure i would have watch a full half hour of this (i was expecting a emphasis on the investigation, not the killing)

Jonah Hex: If the live action movie had looked anything like this, it wouldn't have flopped so hard. Great, exquisite voice acting
Spoiler
"you ain't no lady"
; the character design and the lighting are also above average (in comparison to others DCA movies). Probably my favorite of the three 10 min shorts.

Green Arrow: Pretty good. Best "normal" human fight, as stated above. The archery wasn't really the focus of the action (for better of for worse). The character design of Green Lantern (hoody!) and Black Canary is excellent. The choice to have two main villain was...puzzzling, and they both felt under-use (no real boss fight, the fights with the minions are more interesting). The plot is fairly straight forward. As far as "movies" go, it could have been a JLU episode (and that's still a compliment)

So i'm happy with my purchase. Well worth the watch, let's hope they keep this quality of production for the next one (and let's hope they make more half-hour ones too)
