When the announcement of the new GI Joe cartoon came about and stated that it would be shown on The Hub most of us kinda looked puzzled and went "What the hell is The Hub?". The announcement of the new cable network came about today along with a peak of it's new lineup.

QuoteSix original series and seven U.S. premieres will appear on the lineup for The Hub when it launches, the nascent network announced today. Pickups include new G.I. Joe and Pound Puppies series and a CG-animated version of Strawberry Shortcake.

The network also announced details of its programming schedule. The Hub will air pre-school series from 9:00am to 1:00pm; a "Kids Afternoon" from 1:00pm to 6:00pm; a "Family Prime Access" hour from 6:00pm to 7:00pm; and a "Family Prime" bloc from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. The network, a joint venture of Discovery Communications and Hasbro, will launch on October 10.

Original series announced include:
* G.I. Joe Renegades: The origins of the G.I. Joe team are detailed as the specialists come together to battle Cobra.
* Transformers Prime: The origin of Optimus Prime and his assembling of the Autobots (with Peter Cullen as Optimus' voice and Jeffery Combs as Rachet)
* Pound Puppies: A team of dogs help find homes for puppies in need. Betty White will lend her voice to the show as Agatha McLeish.
* My Little Pony: new adventures await for a group of ponies at a ranch (Lauren Faust of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends will lead this new updated series).
* Dan Vs.: A misanthrope and his sidekick seek revenge against the frustrations of modern life. Dave Foley and Curtis Armstrong will appear on the show.
* The 99: Superheroes each embodying one of ninety-nine "global values" work together to maximize their powers. Based on a comic book by Dr. Naif al-Mutawa.
* Family Game Night: A live-action game in which contestants compete at such Hasbro games as Cranium, Bop-It! and Connect4.
* R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour: A new, half-hour live-action anthology series inspired by the work of R.L. Stine.

New to U.S. networks will be:
* Animal Mechanicals: An action/adventure series aimed at preschoolers.
* Cosmic Quantum Ray: A comedy-action-adventure series about an eccentric team of intergalactic heroes that come to Earth.
* Deltora Quest: A trio of heroes battle to free the kingdom of Deltora from the rule of The Shadow Lord. Based on a book series by Emily Rodda.
* Maryoku Yummy: A preschool series about the title character, who "nurtures children's playful wishes until they come true."
* Strawberry Shortcake: Twenty-six CG-animated stories set in Berry Bitty City.
* The WotWots: A preschool series about two puppet-like aliens exploring an Earth Zoo.
* Twisted Whiskers: A CG-animated series about characters who can morph into absurd shapes.

I'm betting we won't get The Hub here. I don't think we have a lot of room for more cable channels, and I'm hoping we'll be getting The Cooking Channel. (Wish they'd get rid of crap like The Golf Channel, or at least move it to the channels you have to pay extra for)

*blink* Seriously?  It isn't enough that they are mining every 80's property possible for a movie, now they are doing it for TV too?  Interesting.

Originality is getting harder and harder to still.  Still, remakes would probably better than yet another unrealistic reality TV show.

What are you talking about! Reality TV is cheap, fun, infotaining, and most of all, REAL! You're just confused... about life.

...

Make sure to catch my new reality show, "The FR Diaries." Check your local listings. It focuses on 5 FRers and our completely real lives, rivalries, and fun lifestyles! Also, vampires will be guest starring. You guys like vampires, right? Hot.

Oh, man oh man, this is going to be GREAT!

Those ponies are even more hideous than the ones my daughter had. 3-D Strawberry Shortcake. And the Pound Puppies return!

My granddaughter will love 'em; my daughter will hate 'em.

NOW I get my REVENGE!
