so i'm looking at the latest release and i came across this

After a devastating enemy ambush leaves soldier John Carter (Antonio Sabato Jr.) fighting for his life, he awakens to discover that the experimental treatment designed to save him has inexplicably transported him to Mars. On the red planet, Carter finds himself endowed with extraordinary powers -- and in the middle of a feud between warring alien races. I REALLY hope that this is as awesome as it by all rights should be.  I'd rather they have left it set in 1869 or so, but an update won't necessarily be the worst thing.  I always liked the unexplained immortality of John Carter, but that would likely be sorta' hard to explain in a movie.  Of course, this way his skill with a sword is sorta' unexplained....

  it's a good movie to watch, better than what they have on tv.

go in knowing one thing dont expect the incredible its ok. its slow in some parts . painfully slow. but i'm a die hard fan of anything with basoom .

You all do realize that Disney and Pixar are working on their own big screen version of this, which frankly sounds like it will be far better.  Yes, I said Pixar, and no, it won't be computer animated, but will be a live action feature.  The cast is already set, and they've got some quality actors signed up.

Thanks for the info Cat.  William Defoe as Tars Tarkas...are you kidding me?  I have a feeling that he would give us quite an interesting conflicted warrior.  How cool is that?  This one does sound cool.
