I have just looked at ghazkul's request for Nightwing and Flamebird skins, and the return of these characters have produced some thought.  Thoughts hurt, and I want to get rid of them as quick as I can; so, here goes.

You know, I originally started reading comic books in the early to late 1970's when I was a kid, and picked it up again in the late 1980's to late 1990 and sporadically since, and I remembered when DC did that crisis thing to kill off or retcon a lot those old characters, some were among my favorites, and I remember all of the baby crises to repair all of the damage caused by the first one.  Now, it seems that DC is coming back full circle to the beginning.

Personally, I liked a lot of the original stories.  I, even, liked the existence of alternate Earths and the extended Superman and Batman families.  I haven't read any comic books since Kingdom Come, and I am not likely to pick the hobby back up, but the artwork for these characters looks spectacular I have read of posts about some current story lines that have left me tempted.  I just don't trust Marvel or DC to maintain a good trend for very long without yet another annoying crisis-style maxi-crossover maxi-series that creates more problems than it fixes.

Are there any other thoughts on this issue?  Sorry for the pain.

I hate retcon event stories. If they feel that everything is too convoluted and they want to hit a reset button, I agree that's a decent idea. Changing the main characters too much alienates people like me who don't read comics much. But for god's sake, having a huge crisis is just depressing. Just say, "hey, we're resetting all of our comic books, Peter Parker is single and in high school now and wasn't cloned, there's only one known DC universe."  Having Satan or some kind of void kill a bunch of people is just so stupid.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.
