Ugh. I own it and played it, and to be honest, I just couldn't get into it. Granted, a few weeks later I got FF so that blew out any shot at my wanting to play Hero-X again.

Yeah, I played it.  Not very good.

I played it pretty far in.  It was fun for a linear mission based game with some open elements.  It felt like FF meets the Sims (not Sims2, but the Sims) and was well inferior to both.  What annoyed me was a bug that brought the game to a halt partway though, and there was never a patch released.
