New Maps with EZScript stories

I'm making some stories with EZScript (great tool by the way), but i wanted be able to use more than the two maps  offered, i downloaded some great custom maps and wanted to use them on the stories. How i can do that?

It's really easy to set up John Jr.  First of all, all of the Goggles Map pack maps are set up to work with EZScript, as are a lot of new maps that have come out recently.  You'll find instructions for setting up maps in the EZScript manual, but in brief: You just need to add some markers, namely Hero1, Hero2, Hero3, Hero4 (if you're going to use it in a campaign), encounter1-whatever (8 is a good minimum), and skirmishspawn.  That should do it.

The EZScript says i must use the "level editor", where i can find this?

EDIT: I tried to use  "ffvt3rEdit", but when i opened it i receive a message "Level editor is only intended for use within FFedit". What is wrong?

Just one more favor, i need a map of an "alien/future city" to use with a Legion of Super-Heroes EZScript story for  :ffvstr:
May someone tell me where i can get such map?

Check the Mappack, also, you can check Tommy's LSH mod.  He made use of a great alien city map for one of his missions.

Using Goggles Map pack. Thanks to both of you for the tips!

Hi again!
I am trying (emphasis on "trying") make a LSH mini mod, already have the EZscripts stories, but need two maps, one for XX Century Smallville and other for XXXI Century Metropolis. Goggle's mappack has some great maps (the suburbs and "Nick's cafe" maps, for instance) but i don't know what files copy to the mini-mod folder (tried "Mission" and "Area Specif", no luck). Had the same problem with Tommy's LSH mod (yes, his maps are PERFECT, but i don't know how copy them).
Someone could, please help me to find maps i could use.

Copying of maps is easy to do. Making sure you copy over all the required assets is where it gets tricky.

Basically the Map is contained in a folder in the "Missions" Directory. This is the dat file for the map that basically contains all the layout information, map name, texture locations etc. So the first step in copying a map is to copy the folder from one mission directory of one mod to another.

Then comes the tedious part. I'll use the mappack as an example. You can either copy all the assets form the area_specific/area_speciff1 folders to your new mod folder (it varies depending on the mod. My mappack uses the area_speciff1 because its all FF1 game content that exists without commingling with FFvTR stuff, but other people put content in the area_specific folder since its often just texture reworking of existing FFvTR objects, so it can be confusing). This insures that you have all required objects textures etc... but it comes at the price of making your mod folder HUGE in terms of filesize since you are copying EVERYTHING. The other method is the tedious way of tracking down all the objects the map in question uses and just copying over that content only.

Lastly you need to make sure that if the map you are copying has any custom or converted objects in it, you'll need to merge dat files to make sure that the new objects/templates are recognized correctly.

i think this is why mods often use default FFvTR maps (or at least maps designed to install simply to FFvTR like Dana's) because dealing with game assets and custom objects can be a pain in the butt.

That was the main reason for the mappack, as FF1 maps don't work with the new game (at least not without a bit of work).

The alien city map was one of like 5 maps that would cause the game to crash when I was converting them. I never figured out why. I believe it's included in the mappack in a directory called "!Crash Game" or something like that in the Missions folder if you wanted to try it out and see if you can make it work for you...

Tommyboy got that map to work in his LSH mod...I don't know how, but I'm sure it can be done.
