The first movie wasn't bad, it was just bad editing.  I saw the director's cut and enjoyed it.

As a daredevil fan I quite enjoyed it too, but I figured non fans would have no reason to. Reboot? Maybe if it is a reboot like the Hulk was or The Punisher Warzone where it is at least partially a sequel to a movie that was not bad, then I'm in. And I hope they drop Jennifer Garner, I'm not the fanboy type who has a burning hatred for any woman who puts on a superhero costume but honestly her acting just does not work for me, it is based too much on pouting and making cute faces. Same goes for Zhang Ziyi, if any of you watch wire-fu movies.

And while I had a good argument as to why a white kingpin is scarier (that the mafia, gangtas, narcos, triads and yakuza let some white guy take charge, he has to be pretty tough) but honestly if they can get Michael Clarke Duncan again they should just keep him, perhaps even flesh out his backstory (Wilson Fisk comic stories have always been as interesting as Matt Murdoch ones)

I liked Daredevil. I'd rather see a direct Garner-free sequel which is what I thought we'd get. What was so bad about the movie other than when he killed a guy?
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

I actually liked Daredevil myself and I dislike Ben affleck. I thought Michael Clarke Duncan  did just fine. I liked Jennifer Garner too.  Colin Ferrell was great! Sometimes I just don't get why some movies generate the hate when others which don't seem as good don't.

Colin Ferrell was great!

He was like some sort of mischevous, murderous gremlin... not the Bullseye that I love (one of my favorite villains) but I steally really enjoyed the character a lot, he was a lot of fun to watch.

BTW note that the link implies Typhoid Mary in the next movie... she is another character I really like so if done right this could be really cool.

While I don't think this one really needs a reboot, as the original movie wasn't too bad, I also don't think it is necessarily a bad idea.  If the next one doesn't retell his origin, but just gives us Daredevil being Daredevil, (and without the original cast) I could be fine with that.  Ohh, I do agree though, Micheal Clarke Duncan did a pretty good job.  I wouldn't mind seeing him come back, but I don't imagine it is very likely.

I liked the flick but there was a lot of it that felt off. The only character that felt even remotely right to me was Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin, whatever they do he is the only one I'd like to see again. Another thing that put points against the movie is that Jennifer "Man-Face" Garner is horribly unattractive in my eyes, and I find her painful to look at.

I gotta agree that Colin Farrel was fun but he did come across like I was watching an evil little gremlin.

A reboot would be cool but please no more origin stories... in fact I'd almost prefer if any new super hero properties avoided origin stories for some characters. A lot of them are really boring and I'd rather it get handled via flashbacks or not at all.

Absolutely unless you can give me a "Batman Begins" keep it short and sweet. I want to see my hero in action.

Who would you choose to play Daredevil if you had the chance?

Honestly I liked all of their casting choices in the first DD movie. I also don't see a need to do a relaunch.

I thought Daredevil was awful ... although Affleck was decent and the first fight scene in the bar was great.

Not to be picky... but that was supposed to be the idea behind Elektra.  She wasn't supposed to be attractive.  A few years in comics sadly changed that.  Honestly, I don't find Garner attractive either, but I would preferred someone else still finding her too "pretty" for Elektra.

Really never knew that? All I ever heard was that she would have been better off if they left her dead.

Was she really supposed to be ugly? I just thought she was designed to have very distinct greek features. Which wouldn't be attractive to everyone but ugly? Meh... I've never liked her anyways, heh.

Of course after the initial creator leaves a character they always seem to end up looking like a WASP. She certainly doesn't look Greek anymore, of course Asian people rarely look asian in Anime/Manga either and if they do it is like one random guy.

This could also be for a Deadpool movie, remember Typhoid Mary played a big part in his solo series in the beginning.

She looked pretty good to me back when Miller introduced her... there was a memorable Daredevil splash page where she's working out in a bikini...

They could save some money and possibly improve the series by moving over one Affleck to Casey

Has anyone seen Gone Baby Gone? It is really amazing, and it was directed by his brother Ben.

About Elektra I remember that Matt called her Olive Oil, which is usually a reference to being skinny althought it might have had something to do with being greek.

Now for a trip... imagine Chan-Wook Park doing Daredevil... think of the "hammer time" in oldboy, a gritty crime plot and a cool twist ending where Matt learns what commiting yourself to justice means.

marhawkman

Um, yeah, I'm pretty sure that was a reference to her being greek. Greek cuisine is distinct in that olive oil is the ONLY cooking oil.

I liked Daredevil, but the general audience consensus was much worse the the first Hulk movie. I'd love a sequel with the original cast, but realistically they might as well just reboot the franchise at this point. Since it worked with Hulk, they could do it with DD. I actually really liked how DD handled the origin story. It wasn't the main focus of the plot and was handled as sort of an intro portion to the movie, and then it moved on to better things. It was pretty refreshing, since at the time every superhero movie coming out had the origin as the main focus (Spider-Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc).

There's been rumors about a reboot off and on for a while now, but I haven't heard anything beyond that.

Oddly enough, the one thing I didn't like about the movie were the villains. They were so over the top, cheesy, and completely underdeveloped that it undermines the movie quite a bit. Farrell and Duncan were certainly not bad choices, but the movie made me think otherwise. The director also did Ghost Rider, and I thought DD was loads better, even though the cheesiness fit much more into GR, given the source material.

thalaw2

What does DD care about Electra's facial features anyway?  He just has to feel her wrists to know he's going home a happy man.
