Howdy guys, I'm trying to convert the skins in the DCUG to .DDS, and while I am making progress, it is quite slow.  It just occurred to me today that I could automate the process with Photoshop, but I have hit a snag.  I now know how to automate things, and I've got very convenient commands set up...but I can't figure out how to tell it to do the right thing.  I want it to save the file as a .DDS, but when I record that action, it saves everything to the directory with which I made the record...can anyone tell me how to figure this out?

Thanks for the response IPS, but I'm not necessarily trying to do a batch process.  That would be great, but I'd be happy just automating the process for one file at a time.  For example, when I click on a file, I can hit F3 to have it resized, since I've automated that, but it would be great if I could hit F3 to resize it, save it as a DDS in the right directory, and close it.

I have Photoshop CS2, other versions may be different. But what I did was record "save as DDS" as an Action, then used File --> Automate --> Batch to run it. Choose the folder where the files are, and under "Destination", choose "Save and Close" and check the box that says "Override Action Save As Commands". That should save the DDS files to the same folder as the original TGAs.

By George, I think I've got it.  Thanks JKC!  Things seem to be working now.  That will make this MUCH easier!

Ah, good... Somebody told you how to do this.

Actually, making these commands it really easy, but I always forget and have to google it. I was thinking about converting all my recent skins into dds so I'd never have the pink problem, but I am soooo lazy. And I doubt it would matter to anybody, since probably not too many people use my skins.

Maybe I just ought to do the dds switch, like AA.
