Oh this game is sooo awesome. Picked it up today after work.

Tomato

preordered mine... meh. Won't get it until Sep 15th, because I went the PC route.

I'm a big fan of the game so I got the the collector for the 360 and the PC version.  And Yes I will play them both.

Played the game for a few hours tonight. I have not progressed very far, at least I think I haven't, but I have progressed.

This is by far (in my opinion) the best Batman game so far.

The voice acting is great, if not perfect. The action is awesome. The graphics are awe inspiring. I recommend anyone and everyone that can purchase this game.

Silver Shocker

I picked up the game, and played it for most of the night. It really is an awesome game.

I have some problems with some of the voice acting. There was one moment early on that made me laugh in particular.  At this point, it's been established that Joker is behind the take-over, and Batman goes to a set of tv consoles, when Joker appears on the screen, Batman says, "Joker!" like he's surprised.  Thankfully, Joker's response made it okay.  Something like, "Who'd you think it was going to be? Killer Croc?" (can't remember it exactly).  Anyway, I find Batman's voice acting to be a little...I dunno...off.

Still, I'm impressed with the game overall and enjoying it quite a bit.

MJB

The only thing I find "off" about Batman is that he's always standing so straight. He's like stiff as a board and his arms don't move when he talks most of the time. *shrugs*

I'm only just started, but I'm finding I'm playing the first challenge room over and over trying to perfect my combat.  I'm such a spaz with combat in general.  I usually win, but it's anything but elegant.  It's nice to have the "practice" space outside of the core game.  Now if only I were actually improving. . .

You might want to cancel one of the CE. I heard the batarang is pretty bad, not worth the $100.

Standing stiff as a board is understandable, he's a martial art master. My older brother is a 6th Dan in Kyuki-Do and he too stands stiff as a board. I also am impressed with his jump and roll. That is exactly how my old Aikido instructor did it too. Very authentic as far as the martial arts go.

I wonder if the game codes revealed in the video will work for anyone?   ^_^

Podmark

I only just got my 360 this weekend, and picked up Batman yesterday. Pod very happy with it.
Stupid Wednesday comics preventing Pod from playing Batman. Oh but there's Groot

Yeah but great game, it's like actually being Batman right up to saving badguys. The voice acting is excellent save maybe overusing Steve Blum. Must play more soon.

Sweet game! Picked it up Tuesday night after work (yay Wally-World, yay discount card!), beat the story mode about 7-8 PM, might have been 9 something (note: Thursday). Finding the rest of the Riddler's stuff was a little time consuming (Stupid Chatter-Teeth), as was running down all of the Spirit of Arkham thingy's. But, yes, all and all a very nice, fun game. Only thing missing was a nice classic line when Scarecrow asks "What are you?!"

I'm Batman!

PS.
Yes, I did greet the dawn during my playthrus, and did nothing but play all day. I love day's off.
I didn't do it!

What didn't I do?

Talavar

This game is awesome!  I love being stealthy, especially because I kinda suck at the straight-up fighting.

AfghanAnt

I played this the other night at a girl's house drunk and I hated it with a passion. It felt clunky and like I had played this game before.

Sober up and play it again.  This game is sweet.  This game is near perfect.

Yep, absolutely the best comic book game ever crafted.

Funny you posting that Midnite. I always wondered why there wasn't a full free roam Gotham City Batman game yet. Imagine being able to drive around Gotham City in the batmoblie/batcycle...or on the river in the batboat...or in the sky in the batplane or plain old batrope! It would be pretty sweet.

As for Arkham Asylum...it's an awesome game. The best superhero game I've played so far.

I've been playing it on the hardest level to compensate for the "cheat" detective mode vision. Currently stuck on Poison Ivy...she's proving to be a real pain to take down.
Clothes make the man and colourful tights make the Super-Hero.

Figure Fan

I really like this game too. I was watching my brother play it the other night. The characters and voice acting are so much fun.

TheMarvell

do you guys think the game is worth $60? I don't like renting games, but buying them at $60 is pretty steep. My biggest problem with this generation is that games cost more, and tend to last less, unless they focus on multiplayer. I've read that the main game takes about 10-12 hours to beat, maybe more if you do all the side stuff. A lot of games can be great, but not a lot are worth $60. A great example, in my opinion, is Bioshock. That was a great game, but I really don't think it was worth $60, but maybe I'm just getting old.

Yes, this.  NEAR perfect

I have two minor nitpicks with the game
Spoiler

1) Lack of supervillian FIGHTS.  Oh, there are a crapload of supervillians in the game, without question.  And I understand that they need to save some for the sequel.  But how many supervillans do you actually get to FIGHT?  Three! Bane, Ivy, and Joker.  That seems low.  I appreciated the Scarecrow sequences, but I really wanted to smash my fist into his face.  And not getting to fight Harley- just finishing her off in a cutscene after eliminating all the goons?  That's just wrong.

2) The Riddler, while crazy, is NOT psychotic.  Turning the classic riddle about the Sphinx into a dead baby joke?  Completely out of character.

Other than that, this is, quite probably, the best superhero game ever made, and the sequel cannot come soon enough.

I know exactly what you mean. $60 is steep for a game that has no multi player. Games like LOTR Conquest (which I have yet to get) has two story lines and multiplayer. That to me is worth $60. Lots of replayability. Arkham is without a doubt the greatest comic book game I have ever played and even though it doesn't really have a ton of replay value, I would say it is worth it. Along with the main story line you have lots of riddles to solve from the Riddler of course and that can take some time. I personally don't blast my way through the game to finish it. I take my time and look around and admire all the amazing art/design work the developers did.

Talavar

As to the lack of supervillain fights, in my opinion it makes sense.
Spoiler
Most of Batman's villains aren't a serious threat to him one on one.  After all those cool Scarecrow sequences, a boss fight would have been pretty anti-climatic because Scarecrow isn't a fighter.  Harley's similar: if Batman can fight 20 prison inmates at once and win, what challenge can Harley be believed to be in a fight?

$60 bucks is a bit steep for short games (the majority these days); but if you're able to get it at the Walmart discount of $40, it's definitely worth that.  Now, I haven't beaten Arkham Asylum yet, but I'm deliberately taking my time to stretch it out.

Trelau

bout the replayability of Arkham Asylum: the pc version is heavily moddable, and it will have some interesting mods. So the PC version is probably worth buying. As for the console version...their price always seems ridiculously high, if you like it you can always buy it in a year or two when the prices drop. That's my policy on console gaming, i play it after everyone but for a third of the price. it's just a question of patience ^^

bredon7777

Talavar-

Spoiler

You have a point about Scarecrow, I suppose- but Harley has heightened speed, strength, and reflexes- more than enough to be a challenge for Bats in a fight.  In fact, a good game designer could make a one on one fight between Bats and Calendar man interesting.  I still maintain they could've eliminated some of the thug fighting and tossed in a fight with Freeze or something.

I'm planning to buy this game. From what I've read, it seems like Metal Gear Solid / Splinter Cell with a Batman makeover. It's been getting ridiculously good reviews from all-corners.
