Costume Rating 34: Toxin (Brock)

Continuing the Costume Rating return let's look at Eddie Brock current identity as the second Toxin:


After being freed of his Anit-Venom persona Brock went on a one man mission to kill all symbiotes trying to prevent some spawning event (that never happened due to Venom being cancelled). He was captured by the Crime Master who forced him to bond with the Toxin symbiote. Eddie Brock is now once again a symbiote powered pseudo villain/hero as the new Toxin.

So what do you think?

It's like the symbiote chose Brock to be the body and a piranha to be the head. Also, that back hair needs a trimming. If this is Eddie Brock than it's a travesty. A deserved 1.

Not a abd look IMO. I prefer him sans the crazy tentacles and with visible chest symbol.

that hair/coral/tendril/growth thing on there really doesn't work for me.  I could ALMOST see it work for an aquatic character, but for one of the many symbiotes... I dunno, just not working for me. 

That and I too hate the head design.

This was a tough one for me. Depending on the art, on a pretty much per panel basis, I could go from thinking this deesign was pretty good, to very bland. A lot of that came down to colouring as depending on the scene the body is either two distinctive colours or just one mass of pale red. It makes a big difference.
However, when I compare it to some of the symbiotes we've reviewed, the main thing separating this design is decent art. Still I went with a Meh/3.

Brock as Toxin appeared in two separate stories. In the first his form was bigger and more monsterous, but the second form (seen above) appears to be the permanent design, the first just a transition.

Bat the design you mention with the logo I believe only appeared on an early cover design, I don't think it was even published. Might be remembering wrong though.

That said, I liked the non-published one, I feel like the black logo really works to separate this version of Toxin and make it more unique to Brock.

I would have given that version a 4, maybe a 5. Totally forgot about that version from Remender's Venom run.

Maybe it's the art, but the unpublished one doesn't do much for me. Now, maybe if you added the logo to the design at the top...that could be a winner.
