I'm sorry to say that I got a stomach virus that made everything unbalanced, at the same time it gave me a cough and a sore throat. It's such a complete picture that the medications in question were too much for my finances.
Even so, I am medicated and I hope to have a speedy recovery, they say it will take 7 to 10 days.

Best of luck to you and get well soon. It sucks that we live in a world where people can't afford medical care and are suffering, and at the same time there are those with more money than they could spend in three lifetimes, let alone one.

In Argentina it is not either, there is a free public system so poor that people die waiting for medical attention. And a few years ago, not so many, (to say an estimated mid-90s, the public and free health system was an excellent one).
Nowadays you have to opt for the private option otherwise you run a greater risk of neglect or contagion of other things in medical wards that may never attend to you.
I have had swine flu, I avoided covid with a very high protocol, and this virus hit me!
Which was clearly worse, luckily dengue was ruled out, which at one time was also an option to be considered.

thanks for your good wishes

Good luck. I have Ulcerative Colitis and I have been hospitalized twice because of it. You may not have something like that but I certainly know what it's like to spend part of your life in the bathroom.

cranlox

It is a viral condition that apparently is circulating strongly, by generating potassium decompensation by causing excess diarrhea, leading to cardiac complications.
In my case I didn't get to that, luckily I stopped before, but I am consuming minerals and salts on par with what is lost.
Yes it's really ugly.
What are we going to do. The life have this things! Thank you for sharing the feeling, if you literally live in the bathroom

At least on the bright side, a virus can be treated. My second hospitalization was for a C Difficile bacterial infection I got from the first time I was hospitalized, so I was "relieved" when I found it could be treated with antibiotics.

Get well soon cranlox, I hope your hospitalization is as brief as possible.

Thanks people. Blessings to you too

Because of the contacts that I have in common, there are many people suffering from the same stomach virus with the same level of problem, although it takes a few days and if attended promptly it does not cause complications in cases where care is delayed and the potassium level falls below 1, then it causes heart failure. It does not reach the epidemic category or anything more important, but it is a problem that marks a certain growing presence.
Of 30 students in a class, 14 contracted it, that is a clear example of the dispersion.

I'm hospitalized again because I had my gallbladder removed and developed gallstones and an infection. I'll be delayed, but I'll check the forum!

Last Sunday I had a persistent and growing pain in my abdomen. It was my gallbladder, and I had to be rushed to the hospital. They told me I needed a cholecystectomy, which is basically removing the gallbladder. The surgery was performed on Monday at 6 PM. It was a long operation, a very complicated case, but it was 100% successful. I was admitted to the hospital with an IV drip and pain medication. They told me they estimated I'd be discharged Friday or Saturday once I was eating and using the bathroom. I went without food for a day (Tuesday). Then I was on a liquid diet (Wednesday). Then (Thursday) I started a semi-solid diet. I went to the bathroom! The doctors told me no, that there was still an infection and that I had to stay hospitalized for 7 to 10 days with IV fluids. I told them I wanted to leave.
Basically, I wanted to feel better and get back to my family. They told me they didn't think it was possible, but they were consulting with the infection control specialist. The hospital lost power due to a supply outage (a failure by the electricity company). The hospital went into emergency mode, operating on a reduced schedule with its own generator. It was also a long weekend, a four-day holiday for Carnival, during which the hospital was already operating with fewer staff. They gave the order not to admit any patients and to reduce the number of inpatients to a minimum. They gave me the go-ahead to leave and instructed me to follow a strict diet and buy medication. Leaving the hospital amidst a crowd of people felt like an evacuation. Since this happened at the peak of service for all departments, I went back home! I've been prescribed rest and future visits to the hospital for follow-up appointments.

Thank you to the members for your good wishes

That sounds like a lot to just be surprised with. Hopefully things are on the up now and you start to heal. Sending you my prayers.

Thanks Dean & Wyldfire! For the first time this week I slept almost 8 hours! And in my own bed! Although I'm still on medication, I'm going to try to get up and do a few things.

Yikes!  Sorry to hear that, Cran!  I hope that you can get to feeling better soon!  We'll keep you in our prayers.
