As the title implied.

I want to know why someone would choose to stay with :ff: and why the others migrated to :ffvstr: ?

What are the ups and downs? besides the removal of knockback and the energy system.

I am really curious.

(I still have my back up of old FF just in case the FFX gets updated by someone, someday)

There's some new power types and the renderer has better lighting. The custom mesh hoarders could tell you more about :ffvstr:

Knockback is still a thing in FFvTTR - the stats of a looot of powers were changed so you don't see it as frequently but it's definitely there! I'd recommend unlocking hellfire on el diablo to really appreciate it.

Over time I've checked a number of power mechanics in the games and they're largely the same, same calculations, same bugs/exploits.

I agree, :ffvstr: lighting is so beautiful to look at. Very comicbooky. :)

The KB is still available in powers only.

For the power system. I just make melee no cost but with very low magnitude for compensation.

Very nice input, RingsOfReznor.

You can enhance knockback further on melee by increasing strength - every point above 4 strength adds +20%

Having 300 percenter active applies a 3x attack multiplier (equivalent to 75 points of rally the troops) to yourself, which affects all your powers knockback strength

Enemy weaknesses also impact knockback received

I'll take note of that. Thanks. :)

I give normal citizens 1-2 points for strength. 3 is peak human.

It's sad they removed the knockback on objects though. But I would compensate with a projectile power instead. Like projectile tanks, helicopters, vehicles etc..

Noted.

Oh snap you're right! I knew something felt off about thrown objects... but unlike the first game you're not as reliant on them for ranged damage. What a weird design choice.

Ok I take back my prior comment about knockback, something definitely changed in the calculation. It's discussed here and the obvious change is clear when you look at how much knockback Strike for Freedom does between the games, especially with 300 percenter active!

It was really odd they removed that feature. Although majority of RTS games like Warcraft don't have knockback like FF1 does.

Just use a projectile power to compensate throwables with KB.

I will look into it. Thanks.
