This is not so much of a content request thread, but more of an information request.

When Yahoo shut the Groups down, and they offered people a download of all content from all groups they were a member of, I was under the impression that many of us here would have gotten that d/l.  Unfortunately, we've lost access to probably the most complete collection of that with daglob's passing.  And now I'm starting to get the feeling that maybe less of us grabbed those files than I initially thought.

So what I'm asking for now is just a sort of a show of hands of how many of us actually got those files.  If we're ever going to get them put up somewhere else, it would be good to know how many of us have these things (Wyldfyre can't do it all).

After that, I'd like to see if groups that I have that are empty are also empty in other people's d/l.  Beyond that, perhaps a discussion on where we should put all of this stuff, and if there's any ethical/legal considerations.  I know we have a couple of different permission lists, but I don't know of a re-hosting permission list.

So, who out there has some of this stuff?

I happened on this link once. Looks like someone uploaded a backup of files from Daglob on archive.org.

I take it from the lack of replies that I may be the only active board member that got any of this d/l, or at least the only one that stops by regularly.  I cannot even describe how much this saddens me.  I was a member of barely 1/3 of the groups that daglob had listed.  That leaves a vast amount of files that we have to rely on what people have downloaded on their own to be able to rebuild anything close to what we had available.

I've gone through the groups that I have, and 71 of them ended up being empty.  I can't say for sure if all of those were actually empty of files by the time of the shutdown, but I have a bad feeling that even more files were lost at the end that should have still been available.

I guess the next step will be to decide where it would be best to upload all of this content.  I'd prefer it to be someplace that I won't have to worry about maintaining it to keep it from disappearing, nor have links expire/die.  I'd also like to be able to edit or make changes to the uploads, if need be.  It seems like the most likely places would be 4shared, Mediafire, Megashare, and the Internet Archive.  Does anyone have any opinions or relevant experience with any of those they'd like to share?

Benton -  Just in case you haven't looked *everywhere* for yours yet, the .zip downloads for this had ridiculously long file names, with what looks like completely random characters (I downloaded the first part of mine a second time, and it had a completely different file name), probably sometime in late Jan 2020.

That was uploaded by Ewwzy, a long-time board member, after daglob's passing.  He collected as many Mediafire links that daglob had provided for people as he could find before they disappeared.  As he posted on that link, many files (and probably most of it) in that collection were not created by daglob.  It's still a good find, though.

I will also contact the people in the Save Yahoo Groups discord channel that mal had linked to (http://www.freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=60931.msg832307#msg832307), but from what I've already seen that will only be a partial solution, and quite a long way out.  They've been at this for over two years, and they're still in the stage of just tagging each group with a category just to get things organized.  Posting/releasing files is still quite a ways out.  Also, I did a little bit of looking through the list of groups they've confirmed that someone had downloaded, and it's definitely not a complete collection of our groups.  I didn't find my group, and while I did find some of Grenadier's groups, it was only a handful of the 15 groups he had.  I will report back any further findings or info in that thread, just to keep things from getting too cluttered.

I have a lot of the content, but not necessarily tied to the group names.
daglob sent me some things I had missed and I'm sure he had a lot more than I did. I hope to get it all up on the Museum site as soon as RL gives me a break.

If you want, I can set up a sub page on the museum where you can upload whatever you wish. If you want to shoot me a PM we can figure out how you want to handle it.

Yes wyldfyre
I'm not sure how long the discord will host files
But I definitely think uploading everything on the internet archive could be helpful also
