The "Yahoo Group dump", as I've been referring to it, isn't a site or location, but rather a set of zipped folders that Yahoo made temporarily available to everyone that was a member of a Yahoo Group, and had requested it prior to the shutdown (they sent an email to everyone with a link to indicate if you wanted it). They literally dumped all of the files (files, links, messages, photos) from every Group that each person was a member of into a hierarchy of zipped folders. Had I known they were going to do that, I would have joined a lot more groups before that function got locked down.

daglob & I had talked about getting them all hosted somewhere, sourced from as many of us as it took, but a plan never arose. I don't have anywhere near as many as daglob had, but I try to share what I've got, if I can find it. Maybe one day we'll get it all online somewhere.

I missed out on that dump. I hope to get it all on the Museum as soon as I can find enough time. I have a lot of what was in the groups already, but I missed a lot when they shut down.

In terms of being hosted somewhere, for the most part, the answer would be "yes". Many of us likely have copies of a good amount of what there was, but there may be some content that not many people downloaded. Some of us got the download of what was in the groups we were members of, however, by that time Yahoo Groups had been losing files steadily. I have several groups with 0 files in them (Atomic Robot, Bearded, Benton, Bobby69, cmdrkoenig, Grenadier, etc.). Some of the more obscure things from these groups, if not hosted at Alex's or re-hosted by WyldFyre, could be considered lost, until someone makes a request for it and someone else actually digs it out of storage somewhere.

Losing Cyber & daglob in short succession was really hard for us, even beyond the emotional hit. They were the biggest content resources of all of us. It's a hole we'll probably never be able to patch, but it also provides us an opportunity to replace things that no one can find anymore with an updated version. Some of the early stuff, while amazing at the time, can look a bit dated now. Dean & SickAlice have been cranking out some amazing stuff lately, and they're not alone.

In short, if you can't find something, don't be afraid to ask about it. Even if no-one can find the original anymore, someone might make a new one. (but as before, no guarantees on that last part)

My dump is almost 3 Gb in size, from 184 groups. Hotmail's current attachment limit is 10 Mb. Sending it to anyone via email is not really feasible, and I'm not currently inclined to put it into 4shared or mediafire (neither of which I have an account for). If I were to put it up anywhere like that I would strip out all of the garbage & empty groups first, and I don't currently have that kind of time.

3 months ago I went from being the lower 50% of the IT department for our medium-sized company to being 100% of the department, in the middle of a major system upgrade/transition (a system my boss was in charge of, so I only know a fraction of it), and I feel like I'm barely keeping my head above water. Last month the Finance Manager (who we reported to) also left, so I'm now reporting directly to the President of the company with no buffer. What spare time I have away from work, when I'm not also trying to fit in family time & the constant vigilance of a minion with ADHD, I would prefer not to spend with my head buried in a computer on a tedious project like this. I'll look through a few targeted groups for people looking for something, but I'm not prepared to jump into it with both feet at this time. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's the reality of it.

All of ZD's groups that I had are empty (which is a damn shame).

Are you looking for skins *of* Capt. Spud, or *by* him? Regardless, I don't recall if he ever started a Group (because I *think* I would have joined that), but I know that I don't have a group for him, nor know what other group his stuff might have been in. If I had to guess, his stuff might have been hosted at Electric Freedom, Comic Skins Network, or the Freedom Force Content Centre (not 100% certain on that name) -- all of which are no longer available sites (but might be found in the Wayback Machine (check daglob's thread about that)). I know he had some FX hosted @ FXForce, but I don't know if he asked Mike to host any of his skins as well.

The last one I don't immediately recognize or recall seeing anywhere, so I wouldn't know where to start looking, sorry.

Also, it would serve you well to start a new post with your requests, instead of tacking them onto someone else's thread. You're more likely to get more eyes looking at a new post rather than a topic that looks like it's already been answered. Just try to not flood the forum with a bunch of request posts all at once. You could try a handful or less each week, or have one generic request thread that you update every so often, although those can also get buried or less people looking at them.
