Seriously...A tree is a superhero???

I guess Ink's "Black_Tom_Cassidy" mesh could be used as a starting point.

BigD

I wouldn't mind having it for myself ^_^, but even if it doesn't have a skin on it I'm pretty sure someone out there such as Podmark for example can do a skin for old RR himself . If it was okay skin or no skin :o, would it be possible if it came my way and for the record even if it didn't have the proper skin on it I could just wait to use it until the right person came to all of us with the skin for this one :). I hope you all can come up with a skin for this one, and I hope it will all work out for those who are expecting the arrival of ROCKET RACCOON himself to arrive to visit the wonderful of :ff:. One more thing so I don't forget like last time, my email address is bigd33309@yahoo.com and once again I hope the final results are good for all of us. Thanks again :D!

P.S. If you need any costume references and for old RR himself, you can get the idea at this web address http://marvelvscapcom.wikia.com/wiki/Rocket_Raccoon and in the gallery section of that webpage click on the picture labeled Rocket Raccoon's Alternate Colors in the form of the file name Colors49.JPG and you can take a look at it more closely. Also if you need any other references to help get RR done, I'll do my best and see what I can find for you ;). Oh and Cyber Burn, I was notified about a new reply and just for the heck of it test your starting point theory out with the Black_Tom_Cassidy mesh for the heck of it <_<.

spydermann93

I was just thinking a skin for Valandar's Ent mesh would work.

BigD

I agree with spydermann93 ^_^, Valandar's Ent mesh would make a great choice for Groot and furthermore it would be so cool to see a skin of Groot himself on that mesh itself. ^_^ Thinking to myself about that thoughtful idea I said ^_^, well what are we waiting for let's try making Groot for Valandar's Ent mesh and give it a go :mellow:  I hope it works  , and I will be waiting for the results on the Groot project and the ROCKET RACCOON project. CUL8TR!

Podmark

Thanks spydermann93, I wanted to post some Groot reference but I was posting on from my phone and I was short on time.

Groot varies in size but something like this might be ideal:

And an image of his current look:

Can someone point me towards / send me the Ent mesh? I don't seem to have it.

Sure thing :)

Just pm me your e-mail and I'll send it to you, right away.

detourne_me

Just a heads up, the mesh can be skipped perfectly onto Gren's Giant man, so you can get better animations, and it's the same size as that EMH pic.  I'm away for the weekend but I could send you a copy of my skope when I get home.

Man DM, I just really have to compliment you again on that Rocket Raccoon skope. Not only does it look fantastic, but it's another character that I would never have imagined seeing in FF. My skope was a generic start at best, one that I had no clue about how to continue, but again, I just have to compliment you on a really well done skope.

BigD

Hey Podmark ! I might have found the Ent mesh that you were looking for and asking for, and it's at a Yahoo Group that might be useful for you :D. It's at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Valandarmeshes2/, go there, after that click on files in the command selection box, click on the file called ent.zip, save to disk/save file, choose the desired folder of your choice to save the mesh to, click ok and you're good to go plus you are now a proud owner of a mesh called Ent. One more thing, make sure you have either WinRAR, Winzip or whatever to unpack so that you can use the mesh and play it on :ff:. If this was useful to you, please leave me a message here but if I'm busy and not online here at FREEDOM REBORN just drop me a line at my email inbox at bigd33309@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time and patience, and I will check you all later :).

P.S. I just wanna compliment you DM on that Rocket Raccoon skope which Cyber Burn mentioned that was fantastic, not only is it fantastic but it's marvelous which I never imagine seeing it in action on/in :ff: and I hope it gets done soon enough for us to use and play with. Please let me and everyone else know which FREEDOM FORCE it will be for whether its for FF1 aka :ff: or FFVSTR :ffvstr: when it is done ^_^.

Podmark

Thanks for the link BigD. spydermann93 sent me the mesh, but I'm sure other's will find the link useful.

Not familiar with the current GotG, what's a Groot?

Groot is an old Atlas Comics Kirby monster.

Yeah, I've done Tim Boo Ba and Xemnu, it's time we had us a Groot.

BentonGrey

That skope of DM's is super impressive.  I can't wait to see your skin, Pod!  I'm also looking forward to seeing Bill do something with that skope. :)

I remember the old Groot! The Monster from Planet X, right?

BigD

That's okay Podmark I'm not worried ^_^, and you're right I'm pretty sure somebody else or anybody else can use the Ent mesh for the Groot project idea if they wanted to and maybe something else for themselves ;). Also do me a favor please, and tell spyderman93 thanks for saving me the trouble in finding the mesh for me. Keep me posted with updates on the ROCKET RACCOON project/projects and I hope there will be a final result to this project as we wait patiently for the outcome. Peace out, and I'll see you all later :).

You got it...Groot as he originally appeared...

Podmark

Yeah it's pretty amazing that they took such an obscure character and turned him into a fan favorite. The Annihilation and DnA Guardians of the Galaxy was great for that. Those were great books, I highly recommend them.

windblown

That Rocket Racoon is awesome. It's a great skope, I'm looking forward to seeing it skinned

BigD

I agree with windblown on that one ^_^, also it is a great skope and above all he and I are looking forward to see it being skinned right before our very eyes if possible. I hope the final outcome for both the skope and the skin are good, and I also hope that the skope with the skin will be released for either :ff:, :ffvstr: or both which I'm not gonna really worry about until then . Let me know if anything changes for both the skope and the skin, and I hope you will all provide me and the others some proof that the skope and skin are finished altogether. Keep up the good work , :) peace out :) and I will see you all later ;).

How tied into the rest of the 'current' Marvel U were they?  That's the problem I have with the scattered good books and writers, they're always surrounded by things I can't stand.  GoG might not have that problem, though...

It's pretty separate. There's some scattered tie-ins, but mostly it does it's own thing.

The Nova ongoing ties in to some post Civil War stuff at the beginning of his ongoing but that's just an impetus to get him back into space. That series ties in to Secret Invasion for a bit but it's really it's own story about Nova fighting off Skrulls on earth.

Annihilation Conquest has a very small tie-in to Bendis' first Ultron story in Mighty Avengers, but it's basically just a foot note.

GotG has a minor tie-in to Secret Invasion as well but it's of the "let's get people to buy this book by plastering Secret Invasion on the cover but the actual story has almost nothing to do with it" variety.

War of Kings is where things tie-in a lot more, specifically X-Men stuff. Vulcan, the lost Summers brother, is the main villain of the that storyline and the plot is based on the then-current political structure of the Shi'ar which is setup in those X-Men stories, and the Inhumans status quo which is lightly based on some mini-series. But you can probably follow it just fine without reading those stories.

There's probably some other ties that I'm forgetting, but mostly it does it's own thing. With the exception of War of Kings most of the links are just mentioning a plot point in order to create a more cohesive universe, and to strengthen their own plot. If you're at all interested in Marvel cosmic character then it's the place to go, it's got characters popping out of the woodwork.
Now these are modern mainstream superhero comics so they're not kids stuff. No worse than the stuff you've been reading over at DC lately, maybe even a little cleaner.
I'd recommend trying the first Annihilation mini series. There's actually four lead-in minis focusing on Nova, Silver Surfer, Ronan the Accusor, and Super Skrull but you could get away with going straight to the mini. If you like that you can try Annihilation Conquest and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Honestly it's great stuff, and it took characters that didn't know (Starlord) or thought were flat out stupid (...and by that I mean Rocket Raccoon and Groot ) and turned them into some of my favs.
