So, awhile back when I still had some steady income, I went ahead and threw in about $10 to support the Sonic Fan Film by Eddie Lebron (He did a cheap Mega Man fan film awhile back as well, which still had some good moments and is probably better than what a real Mega Man film would be like if Hollywood got a hold of it >.>). For those not aware, it's a short live action film (20 minutes if I recall right) featuring Dr Robotnik's rise to power, Sonic's origins, all that jazz.

Now, this is a fan film, so I'm not saying this is going to be ZOMG Avengers quality, but it's shaping up to be pretty decent. Sonic himself is voiced by Jaleel White (Steve Urkel) who did Sonic's voice for most of the US television shows prior to 4kids and Sonic X, and Eggman's actor definately looks and sounds the part, though unfortunately I wasn't able to find his name skimming through the production blog.

However, what finally got me excited enough to bring the film up here was this bit of CGI, depicting one of the E-100 series robots (E-102 is SA's Gamma).

I'm sorry, but that's beautiful CGI, Fan Film or not.

Anyway, if you want to check out the film, maybe see some of the trailers, the site is http://sonicfanfilm.com/

Based on what I've seen so far, I'm not a fan of their 3D Sonic model, even though I respect what they were trying to do with the more "real world" vibe.

Still, I am very excited about this film.  I very much enjoyed their Mega Man movie, even if I found it "So bad, it's Good!"

I do love Jaleel White!

Yeah, I tend to feel the same way about the Sonic model looking dorkish. Still, they posted a render of the final model with E100, and it looks better... It's still not perfect, but it's a whole lot better than the original renders they were showing.
