X-men: First Class First Image

Why no Scott and Jean?

Because they don't deserve this. They truly do not.

Well now Xavier, seems we haven't gotten over our 'bald' problem, have we? ;)

When I first heard of this movie, I thought it might actually be interesting; now, I'm not so sure...

I didn't know that Emma was a model for Victoria's Secret.    And to top it off, it's January Jones (Mad Men) playing her!
I keep looking at that pic and keep telling myself, this movie is going to bomb, so bad.

AARRRRGH!  I really don't get this cast line-up...If it's supposed to be the pre-X-Men film team (Mystique appears to be wearing an X-uniform), it doesn't make much sense (besides Beast being there).  Jean should be there, Scott should be there...heck, Storm should be there (according to X-film "continuity"), Xavier with hair???...They've already shown an Emma Frost in the crappy Wolverine film, Azazel?...I'm totally confused.

I think this is based instead on Deadly Genesis... the idea of an early x-team that may have been swept under the rug. It would rock if they make it a period thing, like in the 50's or 60's... but smart money says it will be the here and now.

Probably...Which will make even less sense, considering it's meant to be a prequel...Ugh!

Supposedly it is a period piece - there were some leaked set photos earlier with distinctly '60s styles.

That pic just makes me cringe!

Nine.

Nine is the maximum number of X-Men characters you can select without getting even ONE of the good ones.
So Beast and Magneto are OKAY.
Havok and Emma Frost suck and never matter except in relation to Cyclops. I don't know what an Azazeal or an Angel Salvador are. Xavier and Moira are creepy and whiny. Mystique never talks and makes you always wonder if she's someone.

I'd rather watch Wolverine kill people for 2 hours again.

When does Marvel get the X-men movie rights back?
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

So then...going by the opening of the (P.O.S) third movie, Xavier and Magneto worked together for at least well over 20 years...fighting side by side...as teammates.

When does Marvel get the X-men movie rights back?

When Fox sufficiently kills the franchise to the point that it's not even worth keeping anymore...

So possibly after this movie comes out.

Who wants to bet Wolverine shows up?  :popcorn

hopefully not, because fox wanted the werewolf( i use that term loosely) from twilight to play a young version of him.

Which, of course, would make no sense at all, since in their own Origins movie they have already put forth that Logan has been around for quite some time, unless this is a 19th century period piece!

The pic, which was hosted on MSN, was taken down almost immediately and was purported to be really bad photoshop work. That said, there was a recent screening of the trailer, and the Emma costume just might be accurate.

So there's a slim chance the movie may actually be worth something? (Though I doubt it...)

Mr. Hamrick

I can say this much.   Miracole alluded to the picture "leak" and that it might have been a fake.  She didn't outright say it, though.  As I think I mentioned, Miracole is working in the wardrobe department on set so she should know.  Her husband (actor Chris Burns) is working on the film, too. (Not sure in what capacity though I think it's crew not acting.)

I will say that while Miracole has said very little about the project, she has said that she is pleased with what she has been involved with.

Oh, and the two of them were snowed in on set back in December.  Chris tweeted that much.

So... while I don't expect many... if any ... of you to be pleased with the final product... (I mean that's the norm here) I suspect that it will be better than the Ratner fiasco and Wolverine: Origins.

Oh, and Ryan Reynolds has higher hopes on the quality of a Deadpool spinoff than some of you guys.  He hated what was done with Wade in Wolverine: Origins, too.  He's apparently a bigger Deadpool fan than Green Lantern fan, though. (BOO!)

Yes, Hamrick. You've reported all of that before. That's your particular wont. Now that we've announced all the "norms" the forum has, new article time!

Quote from: http://herocomplex.latimes.com/2011/01/19/x-menfirst-class-three-exclusive-photos-and-a-report-from-the-stressed-out-set/The movie posters promise that "X-Men: First Class" will be released June 3, but on Tuesday cameras were still rolling on the Fox film's set and director Matthew Vaughn, making his biggest major studio feature film to date, sounded like a man running out of time. "I'm at that stage where I feel like a boxer against the ropes," the director said as his crew prepared for the next shot on a location set in Long Beach. "I'm just throwing punches and taking them as they come and making sure I don't hit the canvas."

In the pages of Marvel Comics, the X-Men have been the ultimate outsiders for decades — even other superheroes view the strange mutant crew with mistrust, prejudice and disdain. So it's fitting that "First Class," the fifth Hollywood adventure for the heroes, will arrive in theaters this summer with so much to prove and plenty of doubters. For the all-new cast (led by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender), the challenge is to replace the familiar faces of the franchise; for producer Bryan Singer, the challenge is to recapture the affection of comic-book movie fans; and for Vaughn, the challenge is, well, to actually finish making the film.

"We're filming at the moment, we've a lot to get done," said a weary Vaughn, whose credits include memorable but modest-grossing indie fare like "Kick-***" and "Layer Cake." "I've never worked under such time pressure. The good thing about the independent world is I never even knew if I was going to get distribution. I'm used to finishing a film and then crossing your fingers that someone is going to like it. This is totally doing it the other way around. We've definitely got a release date and we've got to make it."

Vaughn is famous for firebrand candor and droll wit, and despite the hand-wringing right now among some Fox executives, the British filmmaker isn't turning meek under the pressure. Asked if he's concerned about the glut of superhero film competition this summer — with "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Green Lantern" and  "Thor" – Vaughn said that, if anything, it's the other guys who should be nervous. "With 'Green Lantern,' I don't know about that one, I couldn't get my head around the trailer, to be honest ... look, I will say the following: X-Men as a brand is bigger than Captain America, Thor and the Green Lantern, all put together."

[...]

"First Class" is being described as an origin story by the studio, and it is set in the 1960s, the same decade that artist Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee introduced the uncanny X-Men into the cosmic melodrama of their expanding Marvel universe. McAvoy is taking on the role of young Charles Xavier, the leader of the X-Men, and Fassbender is Erik Lehnsherr, the man who will become the evil mastermind Magneto. McAvoy and Fassbender are taking over movie roles originated by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, respectively, two esteemed actors who are practically revered among sci-fi and fantasy fans for their respective work in the "Star Trek" and"The Lord of the Rings"  universes.

[...]

The plot of this film is still under wraps, but it presents a world where superpowered mutants are living in secret and don't face the public scrutiny and prejudice that are central themes in the earlier films, which are primarily set in the modern day. The friendship of future foes Xavier and Lehnsherr is the heart of the film — Singer says the two have a common cause and different approaches and he even used the life trajectories of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X as a sort of shorthand for their veering paths. Despite rumors to the contrary, Vaughn said the movie will be the first X-Men film without the most famous face of the franchise, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, and key characters such as Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey give way to new screen arrivals such as Emma Frost (January Jones), Azazel (Jason Flemyng), Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) and Havok (Lucas Till).

This movie is such a mis-use of the source material that I can't see any fan going to see it with the expectation of seeing the pages of the comics come to the big screen.

This smells worse than Lobdell.

At least X-Men 3 was a decent stand alone story.

I like January Jones, she is a good actress, but she is not the white queen.  Plus, she is just so skinny, I want to force feed her a burger.
