Mr. Hamrick

Ok... I am looking at this game and have to say that it's the first time in a while that I have been looking forward to one of the SvR games.  (Granted, I still have played them.)

However, I like the roster that I am seeing for this year.  (http://community.smackdownvsraw.com/roster) and some of the other features have me interested, too.  Namely the WWE Universe play which basically has revamped the exhibition mode a bit AND the ability to roam backstage in the Road to Wrestlemania mode the way you could back in Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain.

Of course, there is the Create-a-Wrestler mode.  There are 50 spaces to create your own people.  I thought about creating some based on a few of the people here.  Maybe posting the formulas I use on here to where people could create the people themselves.  The other option is that I upload them to the WWE Online community and anyone can download them.

Thoughts?

The game is not released till the end of October.  I figure that gives us enough time to put a small list together, create a few finishing move names (you can create finishers from a front grapple, top turnbuckle, and the corner).

I am already nominating the following people to represent FR in SVR

Faces
"The Tech Lord" (or The Lord of the Tech) JeyNyce
Lugaru (since you seem to have a lucha libre mask for your avatar)
Ghost Machine

Heels
Podmark
Reepicheep

Note: I am not including my name on the list.  Why?  Well, given that there are 50 slots and in the past there have been only 5 slots in a "stable" on the game.  I wanted 10 FR people plus myself.  Then adding myself into a stable with 4 others.  However, the numbers can be adjusted accordingly.

I wish these came out on PC, the youtube videos I've seen really got me looking forward to them. I'm a huge sucker for games that let you design characters and have careers... right now I'm horribly addicted to Blood Bowl just because I can create my own team and build them up. Give me something where I make my own wrestlers and I might dissapear for a couple of months.

GhostMachine

I probably won't be getting the game until Christmas, and even then will be getting the PS2 version.

Haven't made a GhostMachine CAW in the last 3 or 4 games. I've been using a vampire character in the last two or three instead.

JeyNyce

If you can create female wrestlers, I'll say create Glitch Girl and call her "The Glitch"

Lord of the Tech.....yes my precious (WWE Belt)
I don't call for tech support, I AM TECH SUPPORT!
It's the internet, don't take it personal!

Tortuga

The character creation in the SvR games are pretty amazing.  I've never created a Tortuga yet...might have to try that if I rent it at one point.

Courtnall6

When ever I buy a wrestling game these days...I end up creating my old favorites from the 80's and 90's...and I just play with them.
I don't follow wrestling that much anymore...so I don't know or care much for the wrestlers of today.

These are usually the ones I'll create first. Then I'll start adding more and more from that time frame.

The Hart Foundation - Bret "Hitman" Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart
Jake "The Snake" Roberts
Demolition - Ax and Smash only...Crush was lame.
The British Bulldogs - Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid
Macho Man Randy Savage - 3 starred pink trunks and yellow kneepads/boots are a must.
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat - Usually his Wrestlemania 3 attire.
Diesel/Kevin Nash
Ahmed Johnson - The Pearl River Plunge!
Ultimate Warrior - Always hard to make correctly since they never have his boots or armbands.

Clothes make the man and colourful tights make the Super-Hero.

Outcast

I usually just re-create people i know and have fun watching them fight each other. :P Then there's some characters from favorite tv shows as well.  (I think it's create-a-wrestler is really awesome too.)

Anyway, i think it's pretty cool too if you could re-create your avatars there. ^_^

Bret and Davey Boy are in the game.  Davey Boy's son is in the game too as are Neidhart's daughter and Bret's protege.  They are known as The Hart Dynasty.  Bret's protege, Tyson Kidd, and Natalya Neidhart are also dating.  and Harry (Davey Boy's son) goes by the name David Hart Smith.

That's kind of the idea here.  I wanted to include people from the boards in my efforts to create people I know.  If you have an avatar then we can put you on the list.

Yes, you can create females.  I will add a finisher called The Glitch to the list as well as "Glitch Girl".  Will have to get some alternate costume ideas from her.  Maybe a "girl genius" inspired one.  And maybe a steampunk one?

You're on my xbox friends list, Tortuga.  If you do get it, maybe we can work on some of the characters.  Adding Tortuga to the list too.  Might need you to help get screen shots of the final product, too.

Might be needing to do more than just the originally planned two groups of five.  LOL!

Anyone who is interested... there are four costumes to be customized.  I suggest one of them be some sort of "traditional wrestling gear" but that's just my opinion.  If you have four definite costume ideas, we can go with that too.

There are also the custom entrances, movesets, and finishers.  Good rule of thumb on that is decide what kind of finisher you want and design your moveset to work on the body area that the finisher affects.  Head and body being the easiest to affect followed by legs then arms.  Since they introduced the "create a finisher", I have been using a particular finisher with my character that is a combination of The Great Muta's poision mist and Raven's Evenflow.  I call it The Acid Burn but thinking of a new name for it.  The Director's Cut maybe?

This sound like something worth pursuing?

The Director's Cut sounds like a better name than Acid Burn. I used to use the Poison Mist, myself, back when I made GhostMachine CAWs. The green color works okay, but if the mist could recolored, I'd use blue.

I like using Create A Finisher, so if anyone draws a blank coming up with one, let me know and I'll pull out my copy of 2010 and see what I can come up with. But I'm better at doing standing finishers than the off the turnbuckle ones. My own favorite that I've done is basically supposed to be a Test Drive neckbreaker (one of Test's older finishers) into a Diamond Cutter. Its more or less the Extreme Twist of Fate starting position with the opponent spun around into an RKO.

I just hope they add more submission moves that can be used as finishers. The last few games have had a weak amount of submission moves that could get an opponent to tap out. Back when just about any submission could get a tap out (ie, before the stuggle system was added), I used to use the STF as GhostMachine's ground finisher. But Cena's version looks weak, so I won't be using it. (Go boot up Here Comes The Pain, for instance, if you have a copy and see what I mean)

P.S. If you have a version of the game where you can use custom music for wrestler's entrances, I'll tell you right now that GhostMachine's proper entrance theme is Rob Zombie's "Return of the Phantom Stranger", off the Hellbilly Deluxe album.

I agree about the submissions needing to be more varied and more potent.  I like the struggle submission system but I agree that Cena's STF looks weak.  Then again, he is not suppose to be a submission guy.  He needs lessons from Daniel Bryan.

actually, the name "The Acid Burn" comes from a proposed finisher that a friend of mine was going to use had he made it through pro-wrestling school.  Adding the poison mist into it for the game seemed to work.  Though, I wished it'd have been the blood mist ala Gangrel

My personal stable in the game as always been "The Kindred" or "The Hollywood Cesspool/Celebrity Cesspool" so you could see where Acid Burn might fit in with The Kindred but not with the "The Hollywood Cesspool".

UnkoMan

There's multiple costumes now? Gosh!
I haven't played these games in a long time, but I used to really love them. My brother and I played Shut Your Mouth constantly for a couple months, and would often just tell each other to shut our mouths randomly. It was hilarious for some reason.

But yeah, I'd spend a long time making wrestlers (lots of luchadores) and customizing move sets and intros yadda yadda.

So how are the load times on these games these days?

Not just multiple costumes but also entrance and "backstage"/"cutscene" attire last year.  (Since there was a CAW Road to Wrestlemania, the cut scene attire was an option.)

It seems to get better every year.  Last years wasn't bad at all with the except of the user created download content.  The loads on those were noticeably longer than the normal load time.  I'd say the normal was maybe 5-8 seconds and the user created download content was minimum 10 seconds.  Well, seemed that long... might've been shorter.

If you like luchadore content then you'd have a field day.  The 2009 and 2010 games both had a lot of variety as far as luchadore mask combinations, face paints, and even make-up.  (some of the make-up functioned the same way as face paint last year).  However, I am not sure how well the move sets accommodated the luchadore style.  I tend to create guys who were more brawler and submission guys.  This was in part because the tech stat has been such a pain to raise.  (It's based on the ability to reverse your opponent's moves.)  However, Rey Mysterio has one of more fluid movesets  in the game which surprises me.

Failed_Hero

I am looking forward to SvR 2011, I have been a fan of this series since Know Your Role.  I normally use the create-a-superstar, to create original characters, I have made upwards of fifty CAWS that were original characters.  I tend to base my wrestlers on gimmicks that missed opportunities.

Before John Cena became the Superman of the WWE, I created guy name Micheal Maverick, a guy built like early Terry Boulder/Hogan (before the roids) who in kayfabe had been trained by Shawn Micheals, and was given the ball by a face Hogan to carry on the good fight you know say your prays, take your vitamins, train.  One of his quirks was the use of butterfly lock (the double underhook) in his moveset, and uses a twisting butterfly power bomb as his finisher.

Another guy is Bradley Zamedi, gimmick of New Orleans Hoodoo hogun.  He is a tweener who tends to wrestle faces cleanly, but uses complete heel tactics against other heels.

I play online only occasionally, mainly because of the abusive nature of many of the gamers who only want to fight and care nothing about the telling of good story in the ring.

My Gamer Tag is FailedHero1985
At the end of the day all that matter is that I tried, right?

BWPS

I made a guy named James Goldust Etchison (on facebook, i had a gimmick where I took over the mantle of Goldust - it was hilarious), I gave him a sweet move called Nothing Non-Gold Can Stay which was just a series of like 10 punches and kicks to the crotch and a top rope move called the Golden Shower.

I wanted to make a tag-team named Noah and Liam Gallagher with moves like the Champagne Superplex and the Wonderwalls of Jericho, but I've been too busy to have fun.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

Mr. Hamrick

The game comes out today.

I just realized I have no idea how to do screenshots.  Going to try just taking pics with my digital camera of the TV screen.

Will be picking up the game shortly but probably will not get to play it till this evening.

Anyone else who has an XBOX and the game, get in touch with me if you want to play.
