So this crazy game just came out this week. I tried out the demo, and all I can say is that it's crazy fun. There's a timer on the demo (30 minutes), but the game world is freaking enormous. Like Fallout 3 enormous it seems. I never played the first one, but it looks like it doesn't matter as the story apparently sucks. Still, it's an open world sandbox blow-everything-up game with a grappling hook and parachute gimmick that works.

has anyone played this yet?

I want to buy it, but there are a few things holding me back:

1) I have PLENTY of games on my backlog as it is. Currently 10 hours into FF13. I have Spidey-Web of Shadows, Ghostbusters, and GTA4 Gay Tony to play, as well as Fallout 3 and a few TellTale games (Strongbad, Wallace & Gromit) I started but haven't finished.

2) Sandbox games are usually hit or miss for me. For a LOT of sandbox games, I find that they're essentially too open for their own good. I mean, what good is it to have this big world but completely lack any focus or mission structure? A good example of what I'm talking about is Brutal Legend. It's got a crazy big, fantastic open world to explore...and a 6-8 hour campaign along with it, with the bulk of the game being item collecting. I prefer my sandbox games to have a nice story/mission structure to go along with the world, otherwise it's not nearly as immersive. With the news of JC2's story being laughably bad and largely forgettable, it makes me reluctant to purchase. Because, as much as I love screwing around and blowing stuff up in sandbox games, I believe I'll get burnt out on it rather quickly if that's all the game has to solidly offer me.

I'm ranting now though. With my backlog so thick (for me anyways) normally I'd just wait, but it's onsale this week for $44, and I have a $15 gift card I can use, thus making the game $30. Hmm...

damn, nobody? Oh well.

I passed on the game for now, but it's on my radar when the price drops.

From what I`ve seen, it looks awesome, will check it out when i find time. I am a fan of sandbox style games so this one is a must.

A friend of mine has the PC version of the game and is loving it.  There are a couple of mods out there for it and it makes the game even more fun.  If you have the extra cash, go get it.  If you love GTA type game (Open sandbox) then you will love this game.

I've heard from a few people that it really is a great sandbox physics/action playground, but like the original, the story and missions etc... are purely secondary to just screwing around in the game world. As a result, if you like just roaming around, causing destruction in unique and fun ways, then the game is great, if you are looking for anything resembling a plot or story that is more than... Go Here, cause carnage, kill some general and blow something up, then it will probably get tedious.

The demo is really fun, but it's definitely more of a $20-30 game for me.
