I hoping someone can suggest a fun game for two/multiplayer for the XBox.  My son is 16 and we are both kind of into games that can't really be played side by side.  Ideally it would be one neither of us has played so we can learn/explore together.  He's completed all the Lego games, so they're out (and kind of annoying to play with him - go there, do this . . .)  He's also expressed anti-interest in racing games, and neither one of us are huge into sports games (although here I could be persuaded).

Ideas?

I assume you mean co-op?

-Marvel Ultimate Aliance 1 & 2
-Halo 3 & Halo ODST
-Call of Duty World at War
-Gears of War 1 & 2
-Army of Two 1 & 2
-Left 4 Dead 1 & 2
-Castle Crashers (downloadable)
-Perfect Dark Zero

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure what "co-op" means.  Is that playing side-by-side on the same console?  Because that's what I'm looking for.

Borderlands and Left 4 Dead (1 and 2) are split screen co-op.  L4D can be up to 4 players on one console.  It's quite fun.  Borderlands is also cool, but because of the profile system it gets a little messy for more than one progressing character.  Still lots of fun though.

Co-op is cooperative, where you're basically "on the same team", like not fighting each other.

Borderlands is a lot of fun, Resident Evil 5 is not bad, I haven't played it, but Left 4 Dead is really popular for cooperative play.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

Depends on if you mean 'in the same console/machine' co-op. I know a couple who are into playing Civ 4 against another couple in Somalia, with the first couple both being on different machines. This can be done with many, many games that have multiplayer, (Unreal Tournament is awesome for LAN's) and means you have a MUCH wider selection of games to choose from. If you're on about a split-screen co-op, that'll really narrow down the game choice.

I suppose it all depends on the genre you two are both into. Racing games and sporting games are out, but what about MMO's (I feel wary recommending that, mainly because they can be hugely addictive -_-) first person shooters, strategy games and the like?

I was hoping to find something for the XBox that we can sit next to each other on the couch and play together.  We have only one decent computer, so MMOs are kind of out, even if I was willing to pay to two accounts, which I'm not (particularly since he's only with me every other weekend).  We've done some COH together when we had a promotional code but it's marginal on our older desk top and the code has expired.

We have both enjoyed some FPSs (like Half Life and Fallout), and we have enjoyed RPGs, but different ones (he likes Oblehvion, I liked Bioshock and am loving Dragon Age).
