Add ons for Freedom Force vs The Third Reich? Any advice for noobie

I played the original FF a few years back and dusted off my CD and picked it up again.  I found the sequel on ebay and will have it in a day or so.  Are there any "essential"  add ons, patches, etc?
I DL'd ffx 3.3 and browsed some mods on the Comprehensive Mods topic.

if you have ffx and the mods you want, you are in pretty good shape.  There is a FFVTTR version of the editor and character tool too if you are interested in those. 

Personally, I also think Taskmaster X has the definitive guide to making your characters with his MArvel and DC conversion doc.  Even if you are making originals or do not use the RPG stats to base your characters off of (I don't for one) the charts detailing how damage is calculated are super useful.
