Another Batman show?

ehh...

Hey, this is nothing. Over in Japan, they have multiple franchises given new shows with new continuities all the time; Gundam has at least 9 different continuities by itself.

True, but they also have 5 hundred different versions of a ton of other shows, too (looking at you, Power Rangers :P)

With the Batman/Superman movie in the works I guess it's time for a new series.  I'd like to see a new Superman series rather than Batman though.

Sorry to burst your bubble but that's a Mattel Toy Line

Yeah... guys, chill out and read the article. The style used for the promotion is the same style used as a figure line Mattel had been pushing the hell out of (Batman Unlimited - familiar?) That has recently been changed from a 6 inch line (which wasn't selling) to a 3.75 line (which still isn't selling, but is at least good custom fodder).

IE: it's an ad for a figure line, NOT a cartoon. I wouldn't be shocked to see a cartoon build around it in a vain attempt to save the toy line, but until we see something animated, I'd remain skeptical

thalaw2

Well...be that as it may, I'd still like to see a new superman series  :D

Sorry Guys, I should have been more clear about the post.  Anyway, would you guys want to see another Batman cartoon because let's face it, if this toy line becomes popular enough, they will try to turn it into a toon.  Just think if the Batman v Superman movie makes enough money....We may see a whole new Justice League TV show.

Jey... it's REALLY not popular. The sheer fact that they tried to switch scales halfway into the line to save money on it... that should tell you everything you need to know. This toyline has been out since Beware the Batman started... if this was going to be a thing, it would have been by now.

^what are you talking about?
To risk being redundant, like as Tomato said, this is not in anyway  a depiction of a new Batman Animated Series in the works, that's actually just a 2 year old Toy Line by Mattel that's trademarked as Batman Unlimited.

Learn something new everyday.  I don't collect action figures anymore, so I'm not up on what's out there.  This is my first time hearing about this.

For a moment I was REALLY excited when I saw this thread title.  I though Bruce Timm was returning to Batman.  Now I'm sad. :(

Silly Benton. DC only ever cancels its cartoons these days. Any theoretical new Batman cartoon that might be made would be cancelled and yanked off the air before you had time to get comfy on the couch with a snack.

And the fact that there's not one part of that that isn't true kinda makes me want to cry in the shower.

Marvel's been no better. We get quality shows with Young Justice and Spectacular that just get canceled so quickly. We haven't even had anything like that lately.  I hate that these shows' fates are driven by toy sales and not by how much nerds like them.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

Silver Shocker

Didn't Spectacular get cancelled because Marvel didn't want to bother with rights issues, Wolverine and the X-Men because the animation studio went out of business (something like that) and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes because Jeph Loeb's a moron who think children can't handle continuity (which is absurd since those Avatar cartoons always do fantastic, TMNT's still going strong, and the cartoons Marvel's making right now HAVE continuity)?

Yeah that sounds way more true than the things I just made up.

WatX was money issues (they couldn't get enough financial backing to go ahead with the second season), Spectacular Spiderman had to do with rights (Sony has rights to everything specific to Spectacular because they created the show, but Marvel studios is the only one with the rights to create Spiderman cartoons), and EMH... was cancelled because Jeph Loeb said so, despite it being the highest rated show on Disney XD for 2012.

But back on topic: I really think everyone's making a mountain out of a molehill here. This is not the first time Mattel has used the "Batman Unlimited" brand name (they used it briefly to rebrand the Batman Legacy line when DC was pushing Mattel into making new 52 figures) and it seems to be Mattel's way of distinguishing the new 4 inch line from the 6" "Batman Power Attack" line that died off.

For non-toy people, here is an image of the Batman Power Attack line:

And here's the Gotham City Showdown 7 pack.

Yeah, I fully coincide there's no actual indication there's a cartoon coming. I'd just rather reminisce about good cartoons.

I think the character designs for the toys are actually pretty cool (Clayface is interesting, and Robin and Slade are pretty decent) but the stylized style is a bit of a turn off.

Tomato

It's actually not a bad figure line (I've thought about picking a few up, particularly Two-Face) the issue is more that there's nothing attached to it. These figures are so stylized they don't really work with anything else, and without a show to attach them to, there really isn't anything to attach them to. I have a large enough collection of Batman figures already, k thx.

Silver Shocker

We uh, kinda gave on this one too early. There is in fact a Batman Unlimited cartoon, it just took about 6 months for them to actually show it.

I watched the trailer, and uh, honestly? Allowing for the funky toy designs, it doesn't look that bad. A little wackier, but they did that in Batman: Brave and the Bold, and personally, I quite liked that show.

I do find it amusing that the cast includes Green Arrow, Flash and Penguin, aka the most popular DC characters on tv right now. But that begs the question: Where's Slade Wilson? ;)

Because every DC adaptation ever has to have Slade?

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised by the choices of villains here... not because I have anything against them, but I'm just surprised by them given that this is still a movie produced for a toy line. Killer Croc isn't too problematic(as I posted above, he's had a figure in place for awhile), but Penguin, Grodd, and the others all require brand new figures, each with body types wildly different from the "standard" bucks that mattel already has in place for the line. It's a big gamble for a toy line that's already not doing very well.

HarryTrotter

Its gonna be selling a lott better once the show starts. So expanding the toy line is something they will definitly be doing.
