This just reminds me of the Total Recall remake ... add CGI and po-faced seriousness and minus the 90s-action movie violence and sly, dark humour.

This didn't need to be remade ... Robocop belongs alongside Terminator, Predator and Alien as one of those untouchable genre classics. Maybe a sequel or reboot.

And Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead, and others...just leave them alone Hollywood!!  Course Hollywood did go and touch Predator with the poorly done Predators...*hangs head that actually saw that bad film*

Looks like it'll be better than the original, which was a pretty lame movie overall.

You did not just go on a website full of geeks and insult one of the classic greats of science fiction movies, I hope.  That would be somewhere between stupid and suicidal.  I'll just pretend that your idiot kid sister hacked your account or something.  For your own safety.

I'm kinda excited about the RoboCop reboot after most of the sequels and telefilms pretty much ran this franchise into the ground. I loved the cheesy humor and '80s/future satire which made the original stand out so much.. I'm pretty sure they are going for a more serious tone with the reboot but I'm sure they will have enough nods to classic lines to keep the fans happy but probably not word for word or used in a different context (not that I wouldn't love someone saying "I'll buy that for a dollar!" somewhere).

My idiot kid sister loves Battlestar Galactica and hair dye and cats and all her friends have neckbeards. She's probably into Robocop too.

I didn't watch it until I was like 16, it doesn't really hold up like Terminator 2 or Aliens or whatever.

Watch out! Bringing one up from the deep.

So we rented this movie this weekend, and loved it. I'll be honest this was another one of those movies that I waited for Bluray because I didn't think it would be worth theater dollars, but I would have been happy had I seen it at the cinema. I was also happy with the ending, except that I wished I could see the sequel right away or a television show. I am ready to find out what happens next to Alex Murphy.

I thought this movie did a great job of setting up Murphy to be someone to root for. When you see what is left of him it is really surprising and you can sense the terror that he is going through. I also liked the man vs. machine aspect of this take better than the original (I know, I know... but I said it anyway).
Spoiler
The technology used to make Murphy the perfect machine actually convinces his brain that he is still in control, so he doesn't just walk around the police station and fry himself to create a system reboot.

I really hope there is a sequel, and if you haven't watched it yet the movie is definitely worth picking up at Redbox.

I really liked this movie too.  I also waited for the DVD.  I thought this movie was a great reboot and I'd also like to see sequels.   I think the angle with family was a great addition.  The story was much deeper than the originals.

I felt like it was a good origin story, and now that the origin is out of the way I want to see a humanized Robocop take on the crime in the city.... But wait, this Robocop was so effecient that he has already cleaned up Detroit... So where do they go from here?

That is my only problem with the movie. We get very little screen time of Robocop taking on Detroit crime, and only hear about it from Sam L. Jackson's character on his television/net show.  I know time wise they had to stick to the story and make a case for the bill to pass allowing machines in law enforcement, but it did feel like he fixed the city too quickly.

Maybe a sequel would pick up a few years into the future and Robocop was never put back into the field? That might work. Allow crime to ramp back up, gangs start to take over, maybe give them some pretty high tech weapons maybe even cyborg esque gang leaders so they pose a potential threat. The criminals begin to take over and Detroit has no other choice but to reinstate Robocop.... that would work.

But, yeah, I loved the movie. I liked the look. It wasn't too bulky, never looked like a suit in my opinion, and looked fantastic in action. I felt the acting was well done, and the storyline kept a good pace. This is a movie that I will add to my collection.
