I love this show on Spike and when I heard about a downloadable game on Xbox Live Arcade based on it, I had to get it. It's actually pretty good. I played it for hours last night. I read that more warriors will be added to it eventually. For ten bucks it's a steal.

I hope it comes out for PC, I just got into the show and it is painfully addicting... as in loose track of how many you just watched in a row addicting.

Also it really speaks to me... when I designed my most recent fantasy RPG I actually created a software program to run thousands of fights to see what a little bit of training, better weapons or better armor does. This show reflects a lot of what I do... my characters are more like ballistic dummies than piles of numbers (you dont lose health, instead you accumulate wounds but the first one could be fatal) and my weapons have some nuance... your typical weapon has a damage rating (say 3 for a dagger, 5 for a sword) but usually they also have 1 to 3 attributes such as fast (a chance for multiple attacks), long (steal initiative), heavy (gets around most attempts to block), balanced (can be thrown), armor piercing (treats metal armor like regular), defensive (gain a shield bonus to block an attack) and a few more.

So a good example is a halberd. It is long meaning you can choose to steal an opponents initiative and attack before he does. It is also heavy so if you hit but not that well you will recieve a bonus that compensates, doing more damage and moving it out of the difference range that could be blocked. Lastly it is defensive (hooks in the shaft made to stop weapons) so if your foe hits you but not by a lot you can apply a bonus similar to what a shield would and stop his attack.

I haven't played the game, since there's not a PC version, but I have the first season on DVD, and its been renewed for a third. (Second season just ended - finale was Navy SEALS vs. Israeli Commandos)

Thought about starting a thread for the show, but since it involves graphic violence....

To keep this on topic, I've heard they may add more warriors to the game.

It's been revealed on the live aftermath that the first dlc is the Rajput warrior. He will be arriving early next year. Apparently, the development team over at SpikeGames is small and new dlc will be arriving slowly. Excited to hear that the Rajput warrior is coming, he's a real bada**.

Loved that episode... every time I've seen those weapons in museums or elsewhere I thought they where silly and then I watch the episode and I'm blown away by just how efficient some of them are.

You know what would be really funny though? Remember in Street Fighter how you had to demolish a car or barrels as a bonus scene? It would be really funny to test your character against a bunch of dangling carcasses or even a ballistic gell dummy.

Lastly I would personally thought Aztec Jaguar vs Zande Warrior was one of the best episodes so while they might have a hard time against armored foes (Knight for example) they would still rock in a fighting game.

I wonder if the Rajput will come with the Scorpion.....

That's one gripe I had with the show in season 2: Why the heck did they have the Rajput, Atilla the Hun and the Ming Warriors using siege/battlefield weapons? Two of those were in one on one battles. Using a siege/battlefield weapon in a one on one fight is downright idiotic, and using one in a squad battle doesn't make much more sense, either.

Ghost, it wasn't the Rajput that used the Scorpion crossbow, it was the Roman Centurion. Your right though, siege weapons in a one on one fight are pointless.

I love that show!!  I was so glad to see it return for another season!  Haven't caught much of the new season though.  I was sad to see the Celt warriors lose to the Persian Immortals....but I did agree with it.  The Persians were just so disciplined.  Now if the Persians faced a Spartan warrior........ :)
