Red Dead Redemption

Got the game a few days ago and so far all I did was:

Move cattle
Rustle wild horses
and help Bonnie at the ranch

and yet, I'm having so much fun in this game.

You're actually experiencing some of the best parts early on.  The cowboy stuff (cattle herding, horse breaking, etc) I found to be some of the most fun I've had in any game.  Now you need to hit the trail and knock out some of those hunting challenges...don't be too alarmed though, when your horse gets taken out by a cougar.  I find myself just riding around in the wilderness hunting wild animals.

Oh man I have lost so many of my poor horses to those cougars.

Jey, did you get it for 360 or PS3?  If you got the 360 you should join our posse.  This is one of the first games ever that I'm as compelled to play single player as I am to play multiplayer.  The challenges are great and the hideouts are a blast to tackle with teammates.

Wow, just lost my horse to a rattlesnake. Then the little bugger bit me and almost killed me. I'm guessing my boots prevented him from giving me a full dose.

I say give 6months to a year before a PC version comes out.  I have a feeling they are going to do this like GTA4

If you've had that horse long enough, all you need to do is whistle.  It should throw that horse rustler right off, and that's when the knife comes into play.  Happy trails.

P.S.  I've finally caved and upgraded to Gold for a $1 this month.  I'll have to join the posse.  Those 12 year olds were pwning, me as they would say, as I rode out on my donkey.  "Hold on, lemme blast that guy on the donkey again".  So, I've you see a Bullseye71 out there, let his donkey be.

We discovered last night that you can launch a FFA or other multiplayer games on a private server using your posse.  That means playing with up to 8 decent folks who aren't 12 year old kids cursing and bragging.  You can also complete PVP challenges this way.

Does it make sense to play as a outlaw? With all of John's dialogue, it seems to me that he is on the path of redemption. Of course the title reflects that but I have also read how you can take him back on the path of his outlaw past. If you do that, does the dialogue reflect that? Does he say different things if you play him as a outlaw?

Finally got this game and played a little last night and this morning, it looks amazing.
I'm having a hard time controlling my horse though, always end up ramming into trees and walls and going way off trails.

When I first got the game, I killed a group of Marshals when I rammed them trying to stop. Had a huge bounty on my head. Took me awhile to get the hang of controlling the horses.

Finished it.  What a great ending.  Unlike any ending of any game I've ever played.  Can't say much else without spoiling it.

Did the game trick you at times as it did me? Several times I thought the story was over but it continued on. You are right about the ending. Best game I have ever played.

The latest patch for the 360 finally enabled me to unlock the Deadly Assassin outfit too. Now it's time for my second play through and for John to terrorize the West.

rent the game yesterday so fairly new to the game but apparently you can play multiplayer with a silver account.  which means i can join up for a posse.

course it may be that it's just a free gold membership this weekend which I think I heard something about. 

Either way, have the game till Monday.  Will definitely be buying it soon and will be available to join up for posses.
