New Transformers G1(sorta) game!

That, is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I can't believe that! So, even escalation mode can only be played online?

:EDIT: Well, it seems to be confirmed that there is absolutely NO split screen. I'm mad enough to spit. I'm writing High Moon an angry letter, and if it does no other good, perhaps it will make me feel better.

I have it for the 360 and I got Jazz. So far I'm loving it. Playing as Megarton and I'm smashing Autobots all over the place

Alright, I've got the PC version. It is awesome....I really have a hard time describing it better than that. My handle is MrMiracle, so if any of y'all get the PC version, let's team up!

One of the few games I would pick up both the PC and console versions. Yes, I'm enjoying it that much. How's the controls for the PC version?

IF you're a G1 fan, then yes, it's worth it.

Well, I'm using a gamepad (and being competitive doing so), so it is hard for me to say. There is some grumbling about the control scheme for the mouse and keyboard layout, but I feel like the gamepad layout is perfect.

Ohh yeah, absolutely. Multiplayer is an absolute blast, the campaign is beautiful and engaging, and the whole thing actually manages to FEEL like the Transformers.

:EDIT: So, here is a review that is a bit more thoughtful. This game LOOKS fantastic, but all you have to do is look at a screenshot to know that. In addition to the fantastic graphics, however, the game also is really impressive because of just how faithful they are to the spirit of the Transformers, specifically G1 (the only TRUE Transformers setting)! None of the characters look exactly like their cartoon or comic counterparts, and yet, you can identify them at a glance. They make perfect visual sense, and the generic Autobot and Decepticon troopers that fill various levels and populate mutliplayer look like they could have stepped out of the same source as Optimus and Megatron. The campaign itself, while I haven't gotten that far into it yet, is equally impressive. It is equal parts fun, frantic, and cinematic. There is something very satisfying in mowing your way through the ranks of opposing Cybertronians, and the gameplay is challenging enough to force you to mix up your tactics and be creative. What's more, they really capture the idea that you're in the middle of this ancient, robotic war. Things explode around you, (in the Autobot campaign) Iacon falls apart as you watch, and it all takes place in this really beautiful alien setting. Also, there are some big action set pieces, like when the Autobots are racing across town, and Soundwave shows up in a ship to blast the roadway you're traveling on. Also, the voice work (ESPECIALLY Peter Cullen) is superb. Hearing Optimus say, "Autobots, Roll out!" was a pretty awesome experience. I am REALLY looking forward to playing this campaign with my friends, and I now believe that it is just about worth the 360 purchase to be able to do so.

However, as all of the game reviews have already said, multiplayer is where this game really shines. Although High Moon made the nigh unforgivable choice of completely ignoring split-screen multiplayer, if you have an internet connection, you can almost forget about that. I would really like to be able to team up with a room full of my friends to fight the Decepticon menace, but even playing with strangers online (something I've never been very fond of) is a real blast. It definitely has its flaws, like the lack of host migration, missing chat features, and a few other oversights that would allow for a lot more teamwork or community. Still, the actual gameplay itself is really addicting. I'm only just now getting to the point where I'm not stinking out-loud, but even as bad as I am, I'm having a good time. There is a lot to learn here, when to transform, when to play which class, what guns work best in which situations, but that means that as you improve, the gameplay deepens. I've only played team deathmatch so far, mostly trying to get decent before I took on the other modes, but there are a nice variety of gametypes available.

All things considered, this is a MUST buy if you are a Transformers fan currently, were one once, or are even a child of the 80's at all! If you're not a TF fan, but like good games, specifically shooters that try to do something new, I'd suggest you give this one a try as well.

Sadly the industry seems to be moving this way.
Is the campaign split-screen co-op? Early on I'd heard something that sounded like it was, but nothing since.
Planning to pick this up, not sure when yet.

I haven't played the 360 version, but yeah, I think so. I don't really see how it could work otherwise.

On another note, you know what I think would be really cool? If this game did well enough to produce not only a sequel, but also a spin-off, sorta' like Halo Wars. I'd love to see an RTS that incorporated a lot of the elements from this game and all of the Transformers characters. It would be much easier to have a wider cast in that.

I picked this up for PS3. I'm still working on finishing the campaign. Multiplayer is a blast and takes up a lot of my play time.

Been trying to finish the Autobot campaign for the past couple days. 2 times in as many days the game has frozen and locked up my PS3.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Happened to me once, was playing on Thursday. Just rebooted my PS3, it was fine after that.
