Marvel's apparently been planning this for a while.  The scripts been written, the execs are happy with it, and they are ready to move forward.  Apparently, they were only waiting to see how Guardian's of the Galaxy would do before trying another cosmic type team of lesser knowns.  Now that they've proven they can do it and the script is ready, things can move forward.

It seems like they plan is to move the Cinematic universe into space with a unified space setting which Guardians have now set up for us.  I personally look forward to more Marvel stuff, and love to see less popular characters get their proper time to shine.

To be fair, there are scripts written for a lot of Marvel properties that are in various stages of development.  A lot of sites have been running these rumors, but with little evidence of real Marvel commitment yet, beyond Vin Diesel's hinting tweet.
