I have lived out of the US for more than 5 years now and I don't miss TV.  Everything I liked is off the air and shows that I do follow (Smallville and Heroes) I wouldn't cry if they got the axe.  What's worth watching?...other than WWE...hehehehe!

I watch my tv exclusively online and on DVD (thanks to HULU and Netflix mostly) but I think humor shows have been great (SNL, Colbert, Daily Show) and the HBO/CINEMAX/SHOWTIME channels spit out more premium cool shows than I can keep up with, so I mostly let them finish and watch them on DVD. I also suffer between seasons of It's always sunny and Nip Tuck.

two and a half men's very funny.yeah, nothing really reaches out and grabs.look how many SVU/CSI/REALITY shows are on.all clones! sci originals are cheap/corney.on discovery type channels, how many times are they going to show lions, crocodiles, and sharks.always the same stuff. watched the show WIPEOUT for the first time the other day.same as the jap. show but watching people get clobbered and dunked doesnt seem to get old as quick.

The only decent things on are Burn Notice (super awesome) and The Secret Saturdays.  Pushing Daisies was one of the best shows I'd ever seen, and one of the few shows I've actually made an effort to watch, but it was canceled like Firefly before it.

Comedies are in a bit better shape, I suppose.  Both How I Met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory are quite good.

My TV hasn't done anything but show DVDs and XBox for about 5 years now.  If something sounds good I watch it online or get it from Netflix.

And I haven't watched anything on line since Pushing Daisies.

I wish "reality" shows would just die off.

There are still great shows but with Hulu and netflix & DVDs, There's no rush to sit in front of the TVs on certain days.  You can watch your favorite shows anytime you want or if you like me watch the whole season in one shot, instead of waiting each week for your show to come on.

There are few shows anymore i feel the need to really keep up with.
A lot of the ones I used to watch have just gone on way too long and lost their appeal. Of those I do try and watch with some kind of regularity (usually via netflix or streaming)

Supernatural
Burn Notice
Bones (not a great show, but a guilty pleasure)
Dr Who (on DVD)
Weeds

Also if you haven't seen "The Wire" I would totally rent that.

I just don't get all the love for House . . .

It's a well made and excellently acted show...but the premise is just not my cup of tea.  My wife loves it though.

The death of Pushing Daisies just reminds me how utterly bleak and soulless our entertainment industry is.  It also says distressing things about the viewing public.

I guess I have a different perspective on TV after having not watched it consistently for so long.  I'll check out a few episodes of some of the things listed.

I couldn't get through the first season of Lost...it just ain't for me.  The characters behaviors didn't make any sense.  And it was too corny.

The last good thing I watched was Everybody Hates Chris, but now i read that that's not coming back for a 5th season.

I recently made myself a list of "what to get, what to keep, what to delete". As for tv show, i mostly watch "your" show. quick recap: i'm from france, so since i don't want to wait a year and a half before being allowed to see some poorly dubbed-constantly cut by advertising tv show; i download every thing i can grab. BUT, every show has to earn it's hard drive space.
My definitive winners this year:
The Colbert Report
The Daily Show
How I Met Your Mother
The Big Bang Theory
Chuck
for "fun" shows. Chuck was felt like a guilty pleasure at the begining (highly predictable episode, with at least one completly unjustify hot-lady shot per episode). But the writing actually became better and better as the seasons pass. PLus it's really fun and enjoyable.
How I met your mother completly blew my mind with their lasts episode of season 4, the careful planning and play with the yellow umbrella really got me stuck to the screen 'til last second of each episode. Those guys can shoot.
the Big Bang theory started as a too obvious joke (hot girls moves in next to geeky boy). But here again, the writing got better, and the acting is excellent. Plus the reference (the Time Machine episode and the "Who should be the next batman?" argument at the comic book store) are very detailed, and i kinda enjoy being able to catch everything.
The Colbert report and Daily Show are as good as ever, but there were some glorious moment these year: most recently, Colbert in irak (seriously, who gets the fracking president of the united states to do a joke on your show?!?!?); and Stewart kicking Jim Cramer's butt was highly enjoyable.

Dexter
Weeds
Dollhouse
Mad Men

too tired to say why in detail, but yeah, really great shows (discovered dexter about two month ago, i watched the 3 seasons in about 2 weeks). dollhouse is whedond, and you can't argue with that.

Smallville
Heroes

Heroes is actually heading up, finally i might add. after the season 2 catastrophy, the first half of the third season was...well, half-convincing. The second half saw the return of tim kring to writing, and that might actually save the show for a great last season (i'm just guessing...rating are lowering, and episode don't get cheaper). I'll definitly check that out.
Smallville...that just hurts now. It physically pains me to hear such bad written, bad acted lines. As always, the supporting cast is the only reason to watch. But That show definitly lost its "full season" privilege. I just keep one out of three episode by now (the one that actually make the story go forward) and flush down the sewer all cheesy romantic useless episode (seriously, it's almost as bad as the unfamous "Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen" comic book); Season 9 ought to be the last. Grab the future episode where he finally put his cape on and fly away, and that might be it (but nothing more)

i also had fringe, ugly betty (just arrived in france...no kidding, advertise a little when something good come around) and californication, but still waiting for aproval (meaning, i'm not sure i like those yet, haven't seen enough of it)

I also put a little paper on my desk with "V and Star Wars Live Serie", two show that might be worth watching (v seems a lot less cool with each new released preview but hey, who knows).

I now completly apologies for the many-many mistakes in my message, but i'll admit i'm completly exhausted and i have to work in 6 hours so i'll go get some sleep and correct what i can tomorow night ^^

What?  No love for Eureka and Sanctuary?  Both good, clever, fun shows on Sci Fi.  Probably the only decent things left on that channel, although I expect Stargate Universe to be a worthy show.

"V" and a "Star Wars Live Series" really?  When are these expected to come out?

The "V" miniseries remake is supposed to be aired as part of the 2010 sweeps rating period.. rumors are that the entire pilot movie will be screened for ComicCon 2009 to help hype up the series.

Now as far as the new Star Wars Live Action project - That's the biggest secret around ComicCon this year. George Lucas and his crew have been rumored to be preparing for a MAJOR ultra-secret reveal of something related to Star Wars. We know that this "project" has been the soul focus of ILM for the last few years since Episode III wrapped and it would take place in the years before Episode IV: A New Hope which shall give the fans that old school feeling but with a new set of lead characters. There is speculation that the pilot movie will launch on its chosen network for the Fall 2009 season with the full series launch in Spring 2010.

We only have a month to go... *deep breath*

I was watching Southern Belles: Louisville on SoapNet at the bar (long story) and I find that sort of television to be the visual equivalent of salted popcorn; not particularly nourishing or tasty but impossible to stop ingesting.

Anyway, last season I only watched Sons of Anarchy and Burn Notice, both very enjoyable. I'm also working my way through True Blood, which is also great. Other than that, no television graces my... er... television.

Zippo

I find the writing in nearly all non-comedy shows these days to be mind-numbingly bad for the most part. The only ones I watch are Supernatural and sometimes Fringe.

I think this is one of the main reasons I'm trying to get into film/television. I must rectify this situation!
