Costume Rating 81: Captain Marvel 2015

A few years ago Marvel promoted Carol Danvers to the name of Captain Marvel, giving her a bigger profile as well. This is her current look:

A note that the colours are washed out a bit in this concept art. The blue is less gray and more traditional blue.


It's likely her movie look will resemble this as well.

It's just a fantastic design in my opinion. It ticks a lot of boxes.
Modernizes her costume? Check.
Pays respect to the classic Captain Marvel with similiar colour scheme and design? Check.
Pays homage to Kree background with her space helmet? Check
Refers to her military training with military like collar? Check.
Refer's to her classic Ms. Marvel costume by keeping the red sash? Check.

I gave it a like, but it's only a mild like for this version. I love the idea of this costume, and of Carol becoming Captain Marvel - great choice by Marvel, they should have done it years ago. I love the basic design, but this version added too many unnecessary lines, and the boots are just strange. I believe this version got rid of the helmet which I think is good, it was odd looking. This version also got rid of the half mohawk hair for a nice simple short look. I can leave or take the pouches.

Basically if you combine the best from the original and this version of the costume you'd have a perfect version!

Agreed with pretty much everything you said. Definitely prefer the previous version. Still like this one though.
